Default "BRAKE" light turning on when ABS engages

My car is a 2001 Prelude SH. Recently the red "BRAKE" warning light has been coming on seemingly at random. This happens when the ABS engages (From snow or ice braking), it will flash on then go off rather quickly. Additionally the "BRAKE" light sometimes will not go off when the car is started up. I have to drive a couple blocks before it goes off.

Anyone have this situation happen to them before? Any suggestions?

I would guess your brake fluid is low and the fluid level sensor is being triggered.
Which will shut down the ABS.

Honda has a TSB (technical srvice bulletin) for this problem. Honda says replacing the float and filter in the master cylinder will fix the problem.

Just a thought....
I think there is also a sensor that comes on if you try to drive the car with the hand brake on. If they switch at the base of the hand brake were bad, perhaps it would cause intermittent brake light.

Try moving the center consol around and if that makes the light go out take the consol out and look for a short to ground. My 99 does the same thing and im pretty sure thats the problem because if i move my consol i can make the light go back out.

Thanks for the replies. I checked the fluid and it was good. After I checked it the problem has not come back, so hopefully the float was just stuck a little. I hope it does not return.
