Default 95 Accord Ex sound system (subs & amp)

I have a lot of questions on this.....

I have a stock 95 accord that i'm looking to install two 12" subwoofers in the back. I'm getting two 12" 200W subs and a 160W amp. I was wondering if they are compatible with the stock radio in the accord and if it is what lead do i hook it up to? Also, i don't have the radio codes for it so i was wondering if i can do it without removing the radio? I read that you can get the codes for free with proof of ownership and the serial number on the radio. If it comes down to that i'll do it. Another thing, what is the best way to wire the vehicle and what type of wire should i use for this wattage? Also, is it possible to wire the amp into the 6X9 speakers in the back directly?

Thanks in advance to anyone who can help me!!

aftermarket deck.. in otherwards go to Best Buy or where ever sells audio equipment and buy a CD player for your car... i dont believe your stock head unit has leads from the back of your deck for subs and an amp... but if you go to an audio store and ask the guy there for a cd player that has the leads in the back.. you will be good to go

1. Unless your amp has line level inputs you cannot use it as the stock radio doesnt have rca outputs.

2. What do you mean into the 6x9's? As in power them with the amp?

I have to agree with Evenstar. There's a reason why no one steals honda OEM Radios. They are more than sufficient for what they were intended for, but they're a little deficient in the Watt/Channel area and distortion; and of course there's the issue of the amp outputs......

Try perusing Crutchfield's catalog and pick out a decent head.

You also might look into a Heavy Duty Alternator if you're serious about Bass, Amps and all that.

i have two 12 inch 500 watt RMS subs.. 200 watt speakers in the back and i think 160 up front.. and a 2.0 capacitor.. a 1000 watt amp for the subs and a 450 watt amp for the speakers.. and i havent even bothered running a heavy duty alternator... so P. how many more watts would i have to run, to need a heavy duty alternator? if that makes sense?

well, i have a 6 cd changer standard in the car so i don't really want to change out the radio since i'm also running on a bit of a tight budget here. And by 6X9 i meant hook the input into the amp up to the same wires as the speakers instead of running a wire all the way to the radio. Also, where can i run the power wire to the battery? is there a spot in the firewall that i can run it through and somewhere in the engine compartment i can run it through where it won't create any interference?

The capacitors are certainly helping, and may not require any attention.
I'm just the sort that likes to overbuild things so there's sufficient capacity to do whatever I may need. My theory:
A 100amp alternator doesn't have to work as hard to compensate for the additional load, will recharge a drained battery faster etc.

If you're not noticing any wierd flickering with your lights as you pump out the bass, don't worry about it. If, on the other hand the battery goes dead for no reason after a week of short trips........

If you're seeing this in the radio display only (and not the dash illumination lamps or elsewhere) I would consider this abnormal and internal to the radio. No way could stock 4 ohm speakers overload the decks final drivers.
If the deck's relatively new, perhaps a call to the manufacturers Customer Service Desk would be appropriate.

well, to close this up i got a 10" Kenwood running on a 400W Pioneer amp. Also, got rid of the cd changer and installed a new head unit with a built in cd drive. I have to say it's so much better. I didn't go big on the system cuz it still sounds good now.

if you want to keep the stock radio just get a drop down converter. it uses the 6x9's. but youll get better sound from a new radio.

I used a unused hole just behind the fuse box toward just to the right, straight into the passenger compartment and out to the trunk
