Alpine MRV-T420....
Ok I got this amp for a pretty good price.
270 Brand new form a local shop that is a certified dealer.
Now my question...
It says it puts out:
Bridged 4 ohms : 240W x 1 @ 12V
Bridged 4 ohms : 340W x 1 @ 14.4V
Now im not too good at this ohm stuff etc. yet but how would this amp be at powering say a JL 12" w3v2? Or would it be better off with 2 10" w3v2?
And yes I have heard both boxes in friends cars and I like the sound of them but I am more interested in which one this amp would be better off with.
Please give me some help figuring out this stuff....

this is what i would recommend i would say 2 10w3v2 which is a awsome subwoofer and the reason i say that is because alpine amps have great sound quality but they lack a whole lot of low end boom and definiton but the new generation amps seem to have just a bit more, what i would do if you were building a bigger system is get the 12w3v2 and run it on that amp for now and get your self a m300 or better yet a m500 to run the subs later there will be a BIG diffrence in the way you bass will sound not only that the m500 has alot of tools onboard to help you get really tight or really boomy bass which ever you like better !!!!!!!
I think I am going to go with the Single 12" w3v2.
It can handle 300w rms and the amp puts out between 240 and 340 so i am guessing I should be ok

i just bought a 12" jl w3 d4...i searched their website n they recommend about 500 watts RMS

What is the impedance of the W3V2s you are considering using? They have dual voice coils so you will need to make sure that the overall impedance (ohms) stays at 4 ohms otherwised the amp will shut off/go into protection.
I'd consider swapping that amp for a MRD300/500 which will be better suited to drive those subwoofers and you'll need to worry less about having the right impedance load on the amp.
