Icon2 Cheap WINTER OiL swithing back to conventional

Winter is taking a toll on the prelude & my budget cannot afford synthetic oil anymore. I noticed the price went up in Royal Purple & Mobil1. It's almost 8$ a qt now.

I've ran full synthetic on my Jdm H22 either Royal Purple or Mobil 1 & Mobil1 Filters every oil change for years and had no problems or Leaks. I'd say I have a very clean motor (under valve cover is shiney no gunk)

Also, I usually add a can of 11oz BG MOA oil additive/cleaner to hit my 5.2qt mark. BG MOA is great stuff if you can find it.

So anyway, Iv been searching and can't really find an answer. I just switched back to CONVENTIONAL Mobil Clean 5000k & a Can of BG MOA oil additive.
-Why? Because I'm broke. And a 5qt jug of 5w30 was only 11$ at Walmart.

It's winter and I had thinker 10w30 extended performance mobil & 1qt Lucas Fully synthetic oil stabilizer.

So switching to the ligher 5w30 for winter is was essential. So I had to opt for the cheaper Conventional.

Is that okay? I'v read you can go back and forth as you please. I would like to know If this is a good idea to just stick with the conventional & BG MOA or If I should continue my synthetic Journey when I have more money.

i know how it is to be broke i have no job so i use cheap oil everytime...but once in awhile you could change it to mobile 1 and add some engine restorer(restore compression, restore horsepower, reduce oil consumption, and restore engine life) it works good.

whatever your engine calls for is ok to use year around. if your engine calls for 5w30, use it, not 10w30. you'll be ok to switch from synthetic to normal. i did this because i burn a lot of oil and synthetic was getting expensive.

a lot of people I've talked to have been saying that switching back conventional is bad.. like its bad on the oil pump and doesn't lubricate as well a motor thats been fully lubricated with synthetics. I've only ran synthetics on this motor, and I really feel like the conventional 'feels' better.. anybody agree or disagree.

synthetics is gettin too expensive. and our motors were built for conventional
motor oil.

anybody have any input? is it bad to switch back on the pump? And have you switched back and Liked it better.. or did you switch back to synthetics again.

You can switch back and forth between dino and synthetic oils and you WILL NOT hurt anything.

how often do you change your oil?? with dino i was changing ~3000 miles and with syn i was changing ~5-6000 (but i might need to get my oil tested again as it's been like 2 years) and the price practically evens itself out between dino and syn as far as how that works out...

unless i'm not considering something ??

well that might be right, but with synthetic I believe you would have to add a little more to top it off than just conventional oil

I usually change my oil at 3000 miles even with the Synthetics oil. I always check and usually wait till it starts looking dirty and change. I know you can go longer intervals with the synthetics but with all the dirt I like to change it sooner than later.

I'm really just curious if the Dino oil will give me the same performance & protection, if it's changed more frequently than the synthetics.. (which essentially balances itself out like Storm_RIDER said) ^^^

Whats your guys experience? Some people say Oil is Oil and changing it often enough doesn't matter... but I know mine runs different with different oils. And for some reason I don't even like Royal Purple.. I feel like its too thin.. maybe its in my head.

Most of the Time, I use the Lucas synthetics oil stabilizer with Mobil 5w30 Extended Performance And I've found that the h22 really likes that combo. It's just getting too expensive.. so i'm opting for a cheaper alternative.

The mobil Clean 5000 is in it now with a can of that BG MOA Oil deposit cleaner stuff.. seems to be alright thus far.

just stay 5w-30 non synthetic for cheapness. brand is up to you but Mobil one is good stuff, and keep it changed 3-5K. thats all you need to do. of course the filter to everytime
