Ok first off i have a 2000 ITR with 19,000 miles on it. I have AEM CAI, Spoon N1 exhaust, DC Sports 4-2-1 header which is coming off soon, and that is all the engine mods i have.

Heres the problem: This happens only on extremely hot days when it is well above 95 degrees F. When i am in 2-5 gears and i step on the gas hard there is a big hesitation before it actually starts to accelerate. Te engine revs up and then actually starts to engage.

Also the clutch pedal does not engage until further up than normal. Usually the clutch engages when the pedal is around the middle. But during these hot days it engages further up. I dont know what the hell is wrong and why it does this. i think i might need an oil change but i dont know why this would effect the clutch???? someone please help me....

sounds like your clutch is dead...time for new clutch

Oh man... my clutch is acting funny too... It seems like it wants to stick when I release it and it's on the way up....

 

Does it get stuck or feel stuck?

 

Have you checked the clutch fluid reservoir level to see if it's low?

 

you wouldnt happen to have the a/c on, on those really hot days, would you?

 

i dont see the correlation between heat and a bad clutch...

another possible problem would be something ignition related. distributor rotor maybe.

 

first thing first get the oil change done, then
ck the amount of fluid in the clutch,
If at that point it still feels the same I'm not knocking your skills but then take it to a really trust worthy mechanic or to a good Acura service dept.
Why are your mods coming off the car?

thanks for the help guys i will try all those things..also my friend here at the local performance shop said clutch master makes good clutches is this true? Just want some input from my fellow H-Ters. thanks and im only taking the DC 4-2-1 Header off because i hate dc sports (it was on there when i bought the car) im thinking off going spoon, jdm or mugen headers.. i dont know yet. but thanks for all the replies..

 

It feels sluggish on the way up...

 

don't hate DC Sports headers they atcually work ok. can someone post the link for the great header test? not better then some but...

 

He doesn't have the JDM model DC that was used in the test..
