Default New Accord runs 14.9 1/4 mile...

WITH AN AUTOMATIC! Which means the new accord, manually equipped will give the ITR quite a run, as well as the Altima and upper class Acura CL Type S.

here's a pic for ya... kinda ugly, takes getting used to maybe.

i dont know why so many people hate honda for being different. theyre just trying to go in a new direction... i welcome change to the stale lineup. the thing has definatly grown on me. and i think its nice that their starting to give a little bit more performance to their grocery getters.

Its in the new motortrend.

0-60 in 6.6 and the 1/4 in 14.9

Thats the V6 5 speed auto sedan, not the 6 speed manual coupe, im impressed.

Edit: 14.9@94.5mph

the ITR was never design for 1/4 times.

the ITR was design for the turns and cornering.

take the new Accord and it will never meet or compare the ITR.

Accord in the US are used for the family oriented, not dragging.

WOW looks cool and nice times!!

Yeah it will take some time to get used to the looks... just like 3rd gen integras and ol bug eyes 96-98 civics. Everyone hates them at first.. typical Honda styling.

No honda is "designed" for drag racing. Anything front wheel drive is not ideal for drag racing either. If you set out to build the ultimate drag car, it would not be FWD. Come on Junior, people do it anyway. Whats your point? The ITR is more "drag race ready" than any other FWD honda. LSD, sticky tires etc. I guess you've never been to an Import drag event, half the Honda all-motor entries are Type Rs or b18c5 powered civics. I suppose your going to tell me a civic is designed for drag racing and an ITR is not?

the ITR was design for the turns and cornering.
Yes it was designed to be a very competant FWD handling car, but aside from that it turns a mid to high 14 second 1/4 time. No one markets a car as being a fast drag racer. Horsepower and handling are what sell cars (think Maxima and Subaru commercials, even the RSX commercials) Think of any fast (in a straight line) factory car, they all can take turns pretty well too.

take the new Accord and it will never meet or compare the ITR.
The ITR and 7th gen V6 pull similiar 1/4 times it seems, why cant they be compared? Because one handles better than the other? Who was talking about handling in the first place? As an overall package they are different, but we arent talking about that now are we?

Accord in the US are used for the family oriented, not dragging.
Manufacturers like to have some kind of balance between handling and straight line performance; the target market for the car usually determines how much handling and how much performance the car gets obviously. The market for the Type R and the market for the Accord Sedan are alittle different. But honda believes that 14.8 is about how fast both markets want to go in a 1/4 mile. The accord V6 sedan is intended for family use. The Integra Type R was intended for 20-30 somethings who want a sporty, race ready, car factory tuner car. It just so happens that both are similiar in how long it takes them to go from 0 to 1320 feet.
