Default VSS Problem

So sometimes when I drive my speedometer bounces all over the place. I was told it was the VSS but I have 2 problems.

1- I cant find it/dont know where it is

and

2- I dont know how to fix it...unless its loose and just plug it back in

Any help HT?

yeah its most likely your vss. the vss is on your transmission, kinda towards the rear of it. right below your throttle body kinda.

Yeah it is tricky to locate. Follow the directions above and you'll be in the right place roughly. There are also two power steering lines located close to the VSS unit. When you find it. Check the connection at the top isnt loose or full of oil build up etc. from a spill/oil leak. If your lucky that will fix it. If not then either the small piece which connects to the transmission is worn and no longer connecting properly or the circuit board in the unit has gone (the latter happened to me). I took my original vss out and found the small part worn out so I went with a vss from a wrecker, the small part for the trans was in good condition, but the speedo still didnt work, went to auto elec, circuit board stuffed, got refund. So i got a new one from honda and it was only about $35 more and no probs since. So if you need to replace it i recommend getting a new vss.
