Post itslogz's 1993 Integra GSR Build Thread!

Should have started this sooner, but I guess i'll begin now from the beginning and to where I am currently and update as I progress.

Bought completely stock 1993 GSR from a local guy, car had 3 owners before me so I am the fourth, got atleast 25 receipts dating back to 1994 of task's performed on the car. Only thing not stock about it was a cd player and a cheap xspower turbo kit @ 6psi & 1 piece jdm headlights.

The day I bought it.

So first thing that was in order, was get rid of the turbo kit and VAFC. Sold the turbo setup and bought a brand new cheap DC header and a crappy intake for the time being.

Next thing in order was to stop 4x4'ing and lower it, cheaply also for the time being
Bought some cheap Skunk2 springs and threw on the stock struts.

Took off the stock wing and took care of the trunk holes and color matched the trunk to hold it off until future body/paint comes into play

Traded the GSR blades + cash for a mint set of rota group n's, once again to hold off until future wheels can be afforded, it was a friend of mine and he wanted them and since his wheels were atleast not beat to **** i figured why not.

Bought a Momo monte carlo 320mm steering wheel w/ momo hub

Bought a HKS hi power muffler, a vibrant ultra quiet resonator, and a catco high flow cat to replace the no cat, no res, and cheap flowmaster muffler.

Got a viper 460HP w/ a few add on's alarm installed by VegaS10 (Thanks alot) and tucked away nicely.

Bought a PW:JDM red stitch shift boot and threw a stock eg shift **** on it since the stock DA one is huge.

Bought a AEM intake from my brother and replaced the tapped turbo oil pan w/ a stock one to remove the ghetto'd up AN fitting

Bought a B17A1 block w/ a spun rod bearing & bent rod for $90 fully assembled

Cleaned it up a bit for right now before it goes to machine shop

Bought some CTR Nippon racing pistons (Std 81mm) on Shotpeened p61 rods (Had one bent rod, but I had 3 good p61 rods to replace the one with)

Took the block and crank to the machine shop for a fresh hottank and hone and the crank to be turned, balanced, and micropolished.

Bought Blox Tuner-Type B cam's

Bought skunk2 tuner series cam gears

Bought NPR piston rings

Bought Rocket Motorsports Titanium Retainers

Bought ACL Bearings

Got block & Crank back from machine shop

Painted block Duplicolor Aluminum color

BLOCK BEFORE:

BLOCK AFTER:

Piston test fit

The piston that my machinist pressed off the bent rod, put on a good rod, and bead blasted, getting the other 3 done like this one when i get the new ARP rod bolts pressed in and the rods resized.

Thats all I got for now, after christmas is when I'll be able to focus more on the engine build, christmas present buying has been whipping me lately..

First thing after christmas, Tony is paying me a visit to do a full tuck on my engine bay, and ill be buying all the other **** I need to complete the engine build (Valve springs and alot of OEM parts and ARP bolts/studs)

After that, will come paint and body work and some REAL wheels and who knows after that

Thanks for looking.

Oh hahaha

Nah the one pieces were on the car when I bought it, the lucky lady who traded bmilt his current car for your old DA got the 1 pieces with it. I still hate to think of bmilt trading that car, i liked it more than my own really.

Next update will more than likely be the before and after pics of the wire tuck after tony visits, then after that the whole bottom end gasket and seal's etc installed and getting the complete block assembled, then the head work once i get all of the **** together, gotta get a better clutch and save for money to take it to get tuned before the head gets done though.

Got 2 new items to go on the car today. Gotta get a brand new shift linkage and bitch pin and ES stablizer bushings before I put these things on, should be a world of difference going from 13 year old shifter @ bushings with a stock shifter and shift ****

More oem goodness.. Rear main seal, new oil pickup, thrust washers, and a new oil squirter to replace the broke one.

Got the crank in its permanent resting place tonight. Everything torqued in order and to spec of course. Going to get the rear main seal/cover on as well here in a little bit. GOt the new squirter and thrust washers in and everything seems great, im still gonna get a dial indicator to make sure the crank is good to go.

Thanks guys. More updates to come soon after christmas for sure. Gonna try to swing by the machine shop tomorrow if hes working to get him to resize the rods real fast and slap in the new rod bolts, then the pistons can be put in... I really need to check my piston to wall clearance though, so im probably gonna see if I can take the block by there and have him do it since I cant get a dial bore and a micrometer till sometime after the first of the year or so.
