Where do you take your used oil?
I have way too many containers of used engine oil, tranny fluid, and brake fluid in my garage. Where do you guys take them to be recycled? Local repair shop? Community recycle center?
Autozone (and probably other stores like it) accept uo to 12 Qts at a time (or per month, I forget which).
They do ask for some information for their records (name/phone#).
Many service stations that actually work on cars also are required to accept used oil. HTH

i sell mine on EBAY!
"Get your type R oil while you can! Its been cycled through my type R engine for 2500 miles! Surely it will add 10 whp! Still usable for another 5000 miles! Bidding starts at $1! Free shipping if bidding goes over 800 dollars! Good luck!"

I do most of my oil changes and my Mom's in Ohio,
And regularly take it to the Autozone up the street.
I also mentioned "Autozone" because one seems to be close/convenient enough for Floyd to get rotors there.
btw-using that link and going to "Virginia" gave me an error page.

Discount Auto by me doesn't even charge for recycling...they have big blue dumpsters in the stores and you just bring it in and dump it...that reminds me, I have 15qts that needs to be dropped off....>>>going to DAP
Either pep boys or just poor it down a storm drain.

Autozone actually takes up to 20 qts at a time. That equals 5 gallons. If you guys want a GREAT oil container for dirt cheap, get an empty Hinkley and Schmitt or whatever water bottle (for a water dispenser). They are 5 gallons, VERY strong, and dont spill when being transported. I actually bought a full one at a local hardware store for $4.50, drank the water after transferring it to smaller containers and use that for my oil now.
I don't know about anywhere else, but here in Massachusetts, anyone that sells oil must take back old waste oil. It's only to most places advantages, they all use waste oil burners for heat. Free heat? What a concept!
Well, I did some calling around:
Juffylube - some locations only (none near me)
AutoZone - yes (but the closest one is 40 min away)
TrakAuto - no
Mobil Stations - haven't checked
Municipal Recycling Center - yes (possible fee)
Pep Boys - yes (none near me)
I think my best bet is a Mobil station, but I haven't investigated.

We have oil change boxes that are sold locally.
They're about the size of a small shoebox and have a plastic bag with absorbant material inside.
We open the box, drain the oil into it, use a tie wrap to close the bag, shut the box and toss it in the trash.
