Midwest Autoworks New Project S2000.400HP.12's.Under 10 grand total


Well here it is Midwest Autoworks new project S2000. Ive been craving a new one since I sold my old one to CFT.
My goal is to have 400 RWHP. Run 12's Whether is be 12.9 or 12.1, I dont care.
I plan on doing this with a budget of 10,000 dollars including the price of the car.
Its kind of a budget build but im using it to prove you can have a fast, reliable street car for cheap if you know the right people and do the work yourself
Here is what I have for pricing so far.
2001 Silverstone S2000. 4500.00
Used Inline Pro Turbo Kit minus the turbo. 1000.00 ( Bought on s2ki)
Tein Springs on stock shocks for now. 170 (Thanx Tom @ Yoparts)
NRG Quick Release steering wheel setup. 245(Thanx Weksos, but where is that trim piece?)
Silverstone painted VC. Free. Did it myself.
The car has some big bulky SSR wheels on it which i will sell and get some money back, maybe put something light on or stock.
So as far right now i have 6000 into this car and have about 4000 left to play with.
It does need seat though, thats why i got it so cheap.
Not real sure what i am going to do with that.
I plan on selling the stock steering wheel to recoupe money for the NRG wheel setup.
Let me hear what you guys have to say, ill take any suggestions on a turbo, but i was thinking a t3 60-1.
SC61 was a choice, i do not want a BB or watercooled turbo I had issues with my gt3076 r and cooling when i had my other turbo s2000.

You had cooling issues with your 30R? I haven't as of yet on my turbo B. Crazy.
There's always the 60-1. Or one of the BW turbos. TheShodan should see this thread soon. That man knows everything about turbos.

What kind of cooling issues did you have ?
I got a lovefab setup with a 60-1 master power, made 340whp with stock fuel pump and 2.5 dp and exhaust at 8psi, 400 is very conservative. I would say mid to high 400's are very easily reached with the proper setup. Look into a diff if your trying to run the 1320.

I cant say how i got the car for cheap, otherwise internet brands will want sponsor money since everyone and thier mom will want one.
My old old s2 we made 434 @ the wheels on 9 psi with a 3mm IP headgasket, this time im going to skip the gasket, go for 12 psi and hope for the best.

i can set you up with a guy that is making some custom t3t4 50 trims whats custom about it is he's putting a gt turbine wheel with the 50 trim compressor and if pushed extremely hard it could do 485-500 on race gas
and you can get it bb or non bb and it would spool REAL quick on that motor
or for even cheaper you could get a t3t4 60 trim with a stg5 wheel that could make about 510-530 if pushed REAL hard and on race gas
or the cheapest route would be to buy a holset hx40 it has the potential for alot more than 400whp and can be had for CHEAP have you considered that
if your interested in any type of custom t3t4 let me know and i will set you up with a guy that can do alot of different stuff i haven't seen others do
and he owns a legit business and is very well known in the 1.8t VW community for his reliability and customer service his website is being redone at the moment so if your interested let me know and ill get you in touch with him
does OBX make a diff for those yet if they do you could save some money by getting that, just when you get it take it apart and put it back together
sometimes the chinese kids don't tighten everything tight enough if they don't you could alway just weld it up and both wheels would pull the whole time

Every one laughed at me when i told them I was trying to budget my turbo S build...i guess im not the only one who is ona budget.

The time your shooting for won't be hard to achieve, just look into using a good flowing manifold to free up the potential power that is there.
Oh, it just sounded like the turbo was getting the blame. As for the lines, aluminum radiator with welded bungs is the way to go usually.I'd look into the bullseye series, they have a lot to select from size wise.

i still say go with the hx40 you could find one if you looked pretty hard for under 200 dollars

to OP: you can build N/A and get 12's, but if boost is your thing just go get a 57 or 60 trim its cheap and they work.
