with the GSR and Type R it is only in 1998+ the 96-97 cars did not. my wild *** guess says this is the same for the LS as well but i'm not 100% like i am with the b18c cars

wel then... this might be difficult to find a b18b engine pre 97. would i be able to use a later model b18b, but use an earlier ECU? i don't see why not

i have a 97 civic 4 door that i want a little bit more power for hills. but wanna keep obd2 for my personal reasons. so i think i can use any b18b and use an earlier ecu that doesn't have the fuel pressure sensor. because the 4 civic lx doesn't either.

the engine isn't the problem, it's the tank and ecu. if you use a late ecu with no sensor you get a code, if you use an early ecu..........never tried it but i'm guessing nothing happens since the ecu won't have a pin for it. worst case remove the sensor. long story short i would have no problem spending my own money on a '99 b18b to drop in a 1997. my personal favorite is www.hmotorsonline.com they are a good business that don't push untested junk.

its a 97, and this wouldn't be my first swap. actually this would be my third. i am pretty familiar with most issues that come up.

so the next question is would a 96 b18b ECu be able to run a 96-2000 b18b engine?

unless there were changes over the years like crank position sensors etc. it should just be plug and play. i know some of the JDM engines require you to transfer some of your USDM sensors. that should be it.
