Default redline problem

I have a 97 Accord and it wont go past 5,000rpms. If it sits for a while like while im at school or work when i first get in it will usually go to redline in 1st and 2nd gear but after that nothing. Other than that it seems to drive fine. Any idea on what it could be would be much appreciated.

Well
Either you're up against the programmed Rev Limiter or you've reached the limit of how successfully 2.2liters can haul around a car with a load in it's pants.
try chexking:

Tire Pressures
State of Tune
and other variables.

Unless you're dealing with a "Check Engine" lamp stareing at you, you're going to have to check the obvious.

My car is pretty much gutted out, nothing in the trunk and no back seats so i dont think weight is an issue, i just bought new tires and the tire pressure is fine, oil and other maintenance is done regularly. I dont think it would be the rev limiter because sometimes it will go to the redline at 6200 but most of the time it just stops at 5k. Its been doing this for about a year, at first it would only do it every now and then be it has gotten progressively worse to were it does it all the time now.
