Icon2 Car is winter stored. Whats minimum CCA(?) Battery I could use?

My current battery is gigantic and is going. Alternator output is perfect and steady even upon reving. I've had the battery for the past 3 and a half years and it had a full drain with me leaving an interrior light on by not having my passanger door completely closed one weekend. Want a smaller Odessy battery so would like to know the smallest battery I can get as far as dimensions and ofcourse power output/starting power?

As I'm aware my 1993 sr4ws needs around 500 CCA (even though that number is not really important, but thats an easy referal number). Of course too if some one here knows about batteries and how the actual starting power is listed or what is actually important to know about them please speak up.

Oh so needless to say I don't need a battery for cold starts as its only driven in positive temperatures and storred in garage.

thanks for any help!

2 more questions,

do you have a high power sound system, or any other large draws on the electrical system?

do you have a under-drive pulley on the alternator?

well in your case this battery should work,

http://www.odysseybatteries.com/battery/pc680series.htm

it has 220CCA, but it can deliver 525CA for up to 20 seconds, so if your engine starts in under 20 seconds (and it should) then you will be allright.

my father uses the same battery in his airplane which we start on 10 degree mornings up here in Michigan and it works great.

ive also heard of people running the same model battery in preludes with no problems, unless you have a high output stereo or under-driven alternator pulley which overdraws from the electrical system and dosent allow the battery to charge properly.

yeah it cranks maybe once or twice at most and fires right up. I think that would work just fine!

With a good working starter should draw at most 150 amps.

Now allowing for some starter drag as the starter wears and a little fudge factor for dirty/failing connectors lets say you could at bare minimum use a 200cca battery.

Now this low of a cranking power you won't have much of a cushion so if your car starts to get draggy in starting you will have to get it repaired right away.

When you store your battery you should put a maintenance charger on it so it won't sulfate as quickly.

So during the winter, leave it out of the car and put on a maintenance charger.

Yeah, the starter is mint so no worries there. The whole starting system I've replaced pretty much over the last two years myself. Cool, thangs alot guys!

I'm likely going with the odessy for the fact its a bit less expensive, and can be mounted in any posistion pretty much.

The other battery listed from batcap I didn't notice if it could be mounted flat or in other posistions. And the price ontop of shipping is going to be well over 200 dollars. That and it didn't list the dimensions.

yeah, hell no. My winter beater (and god I love beating on a domestic POS) is a gmc sierra.(please don't flame me, I put a sticker on it that sais "my other car is a prelude")

HAHA. I paid 500 bucks, than winter tires and it does run MINT. New tranny, new front end entirely, rebuilt motor (warped head), new brakes, new serpintine belts, couldn't ask for more.

My honda, even though only started once and a blue moon with a shat battery, still starts up way faster and easier LOL. Ah well, its only for a few months.

So whats a heel-toe battery kit chitownrida?
