Default 96 first year model problems

Just a question on if the first year model had any problems that were major. I try to stay away from first years but maybe this model year civic was like the crv and didnt have any problems. No defects for a first year model.

its not the first years. those were back in the 70's. anyway i have one. there are 2 recalls, one is for the floor mat(a post needed installed so it wouldn't wedge itself against the accelerator pedal) almost every civic has had it done. the other was the valve in the brake booster vacuum valve in the hose to the intake manifold. to see if its been done, look for a punch mark above one of the digits on the VIN on the fire wall. you should get one anyway though. super reliable

thanks. i don't know about only 70s models. my bro bought a 94 integra and it's had a host of problems. could just be the seller selling him a bad car. but i hope it's the way you say.

I have a 96 EX, and its a trooper. It doesn't matter how bad I beat it, it just keeps on going. Fun little car that I can't get worse than 28mpg, and if I try I can get 36. Great car, and you can pick them up for under 3k.

All depends how well the previous owners took care of it. I got lucky the interior in my car was filthy which can indicate poor maintenance. But its turned out to be very good (96 LX)

yup. like alphalanos said. it all depends on the previous owner.
my EK runs like a champ!
im not sure how the previous owner took car of it but he added DC headers and a short ram intake.
but me, i take care of my car literally better than i take car of myself.
