Alarm or factory keyless system that locks doors after you turn on the engine for 01?
I am in the market to buy my parents a christmas gift and I've decided to buy them either a viper alarm or some type of factory keyless entry system for their 2001 Honda Civic LX sedan. My main concern is that my parents never lock the doors whenever they get into their car and I want to get something for them that will lock the doors for them pretty soon once they get inside the vehicle.
I had a Clifford alarm for my 01 integra and it automatically locked the door once I turned the ignition. My camry locks the doors after I put the car into gear. So I'm looking for either a good aftermarket alarm or maybe even a keyless entry system that will lock the doors once u turn the ignition. The car does have power door locks. If you have any recommendations, please help. Also, is there anyway to disable the siren for the alarm where it'll still disable the engine if the alarm is activated but there won't be a siren? I am also worried that my parents will go out to investigate if their alarm goes off and it may be more trouble than it's worth. They live in a really bad part of town, that's why I want to ensure their car doors are locked when they're driving this holiday season and every time after. And I don't want them catching thieves in the act by going out everytime the alarm goes off which is why I'm considering a factory keyless system. Thanks and Happy Holidays.
*I know an alarm is pretty much useless with a standard install so I'll also be looking into an install with everything well hidden.

i'm pretty sure all directed electronics alarms have the auto lock feature. you want to turn off the shock sensor because it is basically worthless and gives out false alarms

- what are you trying to say? you don't want the siren? just don't install it.

i have an 02 ex with a viper alarm system installed in it. it does lock the doors when the engine is turned on. the system also has a remote start feature in it and i have a 5speed. it is quite nice living in pa these cold months. only down side if u have a 5pseed is i had to bypass the neutral safety switch and if left in gear and u try to use it the car will move and hit ****.

I thought they don't recomend a auto start to a 5speed tranny?
Viper 560 XV. it cost me $400 installed. and i wouldnt recomend putting it on a car with a manual transmission. about a week after i got it installed i left the car in gear and sat my keys and the started and ran into my girls car. o yea and the doors do unlock when i turn the car off.
