Well back in motorcyclist they had two new bikes over the past few months. They were supposed to replace the nsr, and other 2 stroke race bikes. Look into the nsr500 and the rc211v. The RC211v is a 5 cylinder bike, but i am unable to find out more info on it. Search those two and i will check my magazines when i get home.

Yup, theRC211V is 200something hp (990cc if i remember exactly). the NSR500 is over 180hp, 500cc. obviously the NSR500 is lighter (131kg) than the RC211V (145 i think) due to the fact that the nsr500 is a two stroke engine.
But i dont know of any motorcycle that has 200somehting hp with v-tech.

hehe, yeah, the XX was touted as having VTEC next year and thats one of the highest output platforms I can think of discounting any 5 pumpers lurking in the shadows.

It is strange that car motors have more advanced technology in them than motorcyles. It used to be the other way around, I'm betting it will return this way over the next couple years. Motorcycles are due for some technological upgrades.

I dont think car engines are anywhere near bike engines! Isnt the S2000 the highest n/aspirated HP/L in the world? If so then thats 120. All of the majors exceed that.

I hope that a V5 comes back from Honda, of even a revised V3 setup. As for VTech on bikes i think it is a bit irrelevant. I mean most SP's spend 90% of the time in the last 30%of the power band so it would just be un-needed weight and complexity. Is it possible to run VTech at massive RPM anyway? All the F1 teams use pneumatic valve trains.

The technology in cars is beyond bikes. I am talking technology not hp. Fuel injection is just starting to be well designed for bikes. VTech is designed for high rpm's.

I think motorcyle engine technology will advance rather quickly in the next few years. It's kind of scary to imagine how much power they will wring out of them.
