H22A VS G23 take no prisoners

Ight Im sittin here over lookn my build(g23) and after reading and searching and reading some more my conclusion is WTF would be a better choice the H22 or keep goin with the G23 hybrid......
pros and cons of both from what I understand
G23 pro
1. Great tq
2. fun build because its different
3. El cheapo if you keep it oem and simple
4. keep up with those nasty kswap bih's
G23 con
1. Not much info out there on the dynamics of the engine
2. limited rpm range uless you invest alot of money into it
3. gaining compression can be difficult and costly
4. from what i understand heating problems can occur
H22 pro
1. unlimited aftermarket support
2. A better rod/stroke ratio for a decrease in cylinder wear
3. oem dependability
4. Proven performance
H22 con
1. Frm wall structure creates difficulty for building up
2. less TQ# than g23 expected unless you have a magical tuner

Bump it up
Got my crank checked out today, there gonna be polishing it out and I tried to talk to him about the option of chamfering the main and rod journals but he kinda smurked at me and said not many guys with hondas usually take that step because there bottom end have pretty stout oiling efficiency from the manufacturer but if someone with that experience could chim it up maybe give some input on that topic ..... either way at this point im goin with the 97 mm crank for whatever block im gonna use .

OH ya forgot to say why they call it g23 cuz the letter in between f and h is guess haaaa a happy meal goes to the first one that gets this ? right... : o
We are still trouble shooting the car but the G23 we put in the lude seems to wanna be mean. We gotta change out the fuel pump and a few wiring cliches before road worthy.
But it was definately a fun build on the cheap and easy. Have about 40.00 for head gasket and about 40.00 in fluids invested into the motor. The rest was basically used off the old H23 and spare parts laying around.
So we basically have about 150.00 engine put into the car with good compression.
The F23 head gasket was mimicked after an aftermarket H22 HG that had bigger reliefs for oil drainage and coolant flow than an OEM HG. So cooling shouldn't be an issue.

Tru that do you have a link to your build I tried the MY Build link in your sig but its saying thread doesnt exist or something : / anywho what was actually done to the f23 headgastket to make it a better solution to keeping the opperating temps down? Im still plannin my build just cant decide on if i wanna run 86.5 or 87mm bore.. prolly gonna go with the 87mm bore... same diameter combustion chamber and bore will prolly help out with the flow rather than a small bore and big chamber.

That was an old one I had and kinda had some stuff I did with my H2B build but without the fancy pictures.
I didn't take any notes of the G build. Like I said I threw it together in about 2 days with stuff I had accumulated for it over the last couple months. My buddies motor went to **** so I slapped this together to drop in his lude to get it running.
Found out his fuel pump was priming but couldn't keep pressure up. Car is running like a champ again.
I layed the H22 HG over the F23 one and took a sharpie to all the areas where the F23 gasket wasn't big enough or didn't have any holes all together in the oil and coolant passages. Then just dremeled out the areas to a bigger size or added the ones that didn't have any holes there.
I also drilled out the copper o-rings on the HG because they would cause a gap between the block and the head.
Otherwise just slapping a head on a block basically.

So far the G23 is up... any body wanna chime it up to see why the h22 would be a better choice!!
just for refernce Sauceja is it safe for the headgasket orings to be drilled out just out of experience in other words was this a quick fix or can it be detrimental to the gasket itself ??

I dremeled out the holes and then filed them flat so that there was no shavings. I have read that people have done it and people that just use the F23 gasket with only cutting out the brass orings.
Matter of personal opinion really.
Personally I am gonna stick with straight H22 in my cars and prob. update to 98+ block so I can run 55mm mains and go 97mm stroke F23 crank.

Dude, I've been reading up on this topic for atleast a year, and I still don't understand EVERYTHING that goes into making a simple G-series, but if I could find a generally excepted list of parts, I would feel much more safe about embarking on this build.
