Common coolant leaks
Just wondering on a 98 Prelude where the most common coolant leaks come from so i know what to check out first...car seems to be leaking a little coolant. And want to get it fixed.
check the radiator/drain plug from the radiator and radiator hoses as thoses are the most common places...nxt check the thermostat housing (follow your top radiator hose to the engine ) and the water pump housing on the side of the motor
I have a 94 prelude vtec. And I am having the same problem as the last guy. Finding coolant on the back side of the motor, above oil filter. No coolant in oil, no pressure in system. please help.
Pretty much the same as those suggestions above, but the rad can be ruled out.
The main place I have seen coolant leaks is either end of the water pipe on the back of the engine. There is an o-ring holding it tight and sealed on either side, and VTEC cars it is the same one on both sides. Only use a Honda o-ring, I tried many others and they all leaked.
While back there, give the heater hoses a good look over, and the lines to/ from the oil cooler.
The car is old enough that it would be worth checking the oil cooler over as well, it could have developed a leak in 22 years.
