A/C Condensor fan doesnt come on? Whats going on here? ECU Gurus enter as well.
Whats up everyone. Recently, my A/C fan will not come on. I dont understand what could wrong wrong. I checked, the engine bay relays, the fan it self, underhood fuses. All fine. I used a power probe, to manual activate the fan, and the A/C worked as it should. But when I use the compartment controls, I get nothing, no fan on. The system was just professional charge by a freind of mine at his shop. One note, I had a leak in my car which resulted in water dripping in on the passanger side. The ECU did get work, but the car runs fine. Are they any other relays are circuits I missed? Anyone have any suggestions? Thanks
Compressor runs. Like i was saying, when i put the power probe to the relays, everything kicks in. The A/C is cold and all that good stuff. I was reading that the ECU sends a signal to the A/C fan to turn on. I was just wondering if there is another relay I havent checked yet besides the two underneath the hood in the front?

Is the compressor clutch relay, the relay underneath the hood, in the front of the engine compartment? There are two relays there next to each others both I checked.

LOL yea that would help wouldnt it! Sorry about that. I have a 92 Honda civic DX which has been retrofited with the R134a.

off the top of your head, what do you think some possiblities are that the Relays are not getting the power needed? Its just frustrating, because before my swap and all that stuff a while ago, everything was fine and the A/C worked great. I havent done a single thing to the A/C since then. How many wires should be coming from the compressor? In my experience with any type of wiring, I always forget to ground things. I only see one wire that is red with a connector coming from it. Should there by any others. Same goes with the condensor?

from my experience - teh fan doesnt always come on - only when it needs a boost or something - it is not automatic.
maybe the fresh charge has made the AC system more efficent and doesnt need to use the fan too much?
does it never come on or have you just not noticed it comming on?
if the air is good and cold - where's the problem?

I just tried a experiment. Since the A/C wasnt turning on, actually more like the condensor fan wasnt turning on, I hot wired the compressor and fan to a toggle switch directly connected to the battery. Results, cold A/C. This way is just to ghetto for me lol. Is there a wire to test on the ECU harness to see if a signal is going out to the A/C unit? I even swapped in my old DX ecu to see if it was my ECU, that didnt work either.

oh yeah the compressor runs, but the fan doesnt. I just rigged it this way just for experimenting purposes lol. I tried both ways, to the fan and the fan + the compressor...eithe way, the A/C kicked in. Whats the best way to test if a relay is no good. I might of have assed that part of the check...it was so hot during the day today and i was getting pissed so i possible could have over looked it.

Update: I tried switching the relays, nada, but I did notice something I didnt notice before. The A/C button no longer lights up on the climate control when I activate it? It was so sunny, I probably didnt notice the light. What do you think? Thanks
