Default ls/vtec stops while turning crank

Recently built an LS/VTEC motor. After installing the head, we checked the timing about 6 times to be sure we did everything correctly. Timing marks were dead on and the engine spun pretty freely.

3 months later, I install the flywheel, clutch, tranny, and drop the motor into the car. While adjusting the timing yesterday, I was unable to turn the crank beyond a certain point. I was able to push through the first time, but was hesitant on doing so when it caught up again.

No spark plugs were in, timing is set perfect (no.1 cylinder TDC with cam gear arrows pointing up and alignment marks matching in middle).

I find it weird that the engine would spinfreely out of the car, and now bind up. Hopefully it's not something internal. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.

yr motor worked fine before your dropped the flywheel clutch and tranny on it. Your problem is not in your motor (unless you f*ed with the motor) You need to focuse on the tranny clutch and flywheel. My thoughts are first off the flywheel is it new used or what is it possible that you may have installed it wrong. Maybe its catching on something. Next ofcourse the clutch then the tranny. Next would be to try and find someone with a snake camera there expensive but if you can find a place that you could borrow one from or get a buddie to stop by with it would be worthwile to take a look in the cyilders to make sure nothing is hitting. Next best thing take a stesiscope (sp?) set it rite over the head and block and have a buddy turn it over till it stops and listen for something hitting. to me since it worked fine till the tranny flywheel and cltch went on that would be your problem.

Fidanza flywheel, ACT 6 Puck clutch, new pilot bearing, new throwout bearing. No axles are installed in the tranny so there is no fluid in the tranny.

My drag manifold prevented me from accessing my dipstick tube. I ended up bending the tube a little so that I could fit the dipstick in. The only way to fit the dipstick in was to bend it a little at the tip. I spun it without the dipstick and it still stuck.

I've done quite a few clutch jobs in the past and do not believe that I did anything incorrectly.

Whats your setup? I know you dont want to hear this but you are going to have to start removing things until it spins free again. When in doubt pull it out....

Yeah I would be too but its something that has got to be done. You have got to start eliminating things one way or another.
