Default I tried serching and found nothing: Radio, cigerete lighter problem

I have a 94 accord Ex. The radio is some crappy durabrand that I bought for 40 bucks at walmart cuz some fool stole my other one.Well the thing is I will come home from work at night after. When I turn off the car, I make sure everything is off. But, when I wake up in the morning, and jump into the car, the Radio and the cigarette lighter is ON. I'm holding the keys in my hand, but the Radio is on. :/ I don't know why this happends. It's been happening for a year now, but recently, it has been a reall problem. Can someone help my please??

Well it could be the brand of CD player but doubt it.. I would get a current tester and make sure that its hooked up right... There is a ground, remote wire and a constant 12 volt. If that is all hooked up right, then check to see if the remote wire is bare on a spot and touching a constant 12 volt wire. Hope this helps.

The universal red and yellow wires could be hooked up backwards but that would have been noticed from day one (maybe noticed). Otherwise there is now a short and it needs to be found and fixed. It also could be a bad radio, unplug it and see if the cig lighter comes on by itself over the next couple of days. You must have a really good battery!!!

Yah the battery in my car is really good cuz the radio will be on all night long, and it will still start up perfectly. I'm not gonna worry about it to much cuz I'm getting a new radio anyways. (jvc, or Alpine with 10" subs) I'll pull out the radio and check the wiring tomorrow when I have time. But is it possible to wire the Cigarette light to stay on all the times?? Because the only charger I have for my phone is the car charger and my phone sucks major ***** when it comes to battery life.

you got the radio and cig lighter hooked to non switched power, pull the harness and wire it the right way...... basically the only thing on the radio that should not be hooked into switched power is the lead for memory backup.

yeah it seems like something is wired wrong... my truck had the cigarette lighter always on which was kinda nice if i wanted to charge my phone or something without leaving the key on, but check and see if it was wired into the fuse box to a 'always on' circuit. i thought they just plugged into the original radio harness?

Many people get confused and assume that RED means B+ hot 24 / 7, but YELLOW is battery unswitched power (hot with key out) and RED is switched power (with key on), so YELLOW is for memory which stays on all the time and draws very little power for station presets and clock memory.

Some folks do not test for power with a meter, they just hook up the RED to memory knowing the memory needs power all the time and they think that RED means hot all the time.

The funny part is that the driver does not need the clock in the radio as there is a clock in the car and they do not listen to the radio so they do not care about preset stations, they only use the CD Player.

Some folks rewire the cig lighter so they can have power with the key out to run a plug in item like an MP3 player or a laptop without using the key, turning the key on will power up many items in the car and drain the battery down even faster. Its also good for smokers to not have to dig out their key while washing the car. Hell this also means that since the audio unit is improperly installed that they can listen to music (CD) while washing the car without using the key. THIS is the giveaway that it is hooked up wrong.

BUT lets not forget that the unit could have gone bad internally and needs to be changed out anyways, in case the clock and presets do actually have memory.

Everything is hooked up right. I've pulled out and rewired my radio about 3,000 times now. I have the memorize hooked up to the baterry and the rest of the stuff is hooked up to The right wire. And it still happens. idk maybe it's the radio or something. it sucks

Ok..... Well what you should do is just use a light tester and found a remote wire to tap into too. If you cant find one then tap into your fuse panel under the drive side. This will fix the problem.
