I have a 95 Hatchback and water is leaking into my outer tail lights and I need to know how to get the water out of them. I am planning on putting some clear silicone on them but I have to get the condensation out first.

They are the OEM lights.

If anyone esle had this let me know what you did to fix it.

I searched and everybody was just putting silicone on them.

Same thing is happening to my cheap corner lights I bought and I know its because they're cheap but I could just do the same thing to them.

 

What you can do is, unbolt all the bolts that hold the taillight onto the car. then what you do when the light is out, is drill a small hole on the bottom of the light. About the size of a shoelace. this will allow any water that goes into the light to drain out to the bottom. This is how I did it on mines, and it worked. It kept the water from chilling inside the light and not slosh around.

 

is this happening to all of your taillights or just 1 or 2? If its just one faulty tail light, I would replace it. Try to open it up,dry it, seal it. Keep in mind that the water can be coming in do to a crack in lense, in that case, just replace it.

 

Take light off of car. Put on cookie sheet in oven @ 200 deg F check periodically but after about 10-15 min light should pull apart (lens from housing) clean out all sealant and water dry completely once cooled put back together and seal with honda bond once dry re-install on car and if you sealed it up right it will not leak anymore.

 

I would put it lense side down in an oven at like 125-150*ish and just let the mild heat evaporate the water through the plug holes. I wouldn't open the lights or drill into them until I tried simple techniques first.

 

im not gonna drill a hole in it since its just like condensation in there. So i thinck I will put them in the oven to evaporate the water then put some clear silicone on them to stop the water from coming in. There are no cracks in them and it is both outter lights.
