Icon6 Tranny not shifting, and fuel issue

Hi, i'm new here, just bout a 2000 Civic EX Sedan, it's clean and all, but there is 2 slight issues i have

One, the car came with a CEL, im waiting till next friday when i get paid so i can get the codes scanned. Anyway when i turn on the car, it sounds like it dies and than it starts idling, and it always smells like gasoline in the car

2. I have the automatic tranny, a Y7 to be exact. Sometimes, the tranny stays in one gear, doesn't shift up or down, but if turn off and restart the car, the problem goes away..is it the TCU?

that's all that's wrong for now..im going for a full tune up next saturday, so any help before than would be appreciated

is the D4 light blinking? When the D4 light is blinking it gives off a code, aside from the CEL

Id save yourself from spending money on an OBD scan cause places like advance auto/autozone do it for free.

Sounds like a fuel system problem. Check your pump and your return lines. Your engine may not be getting enough fuel to shift.

i thought it might be fuel related

i took the car for a sping earlier in the morning, and i started the car from cold, and was reversing down the driveway and the car just died..the battery light flashed..i then tried to start with my foot on the throttle, and it started up

i think the problem goes away when the car is warm..so i think it is the fuel pump.
