Default It finally happened to me (Attempted ITR Theft Inside)

Well, the gf called me around 2am this morning telling me that our dog was getting very sick, so I head over there to see what's wrong with our dog and decide to just sleep the few hours that I could before going to work at 7am. I arrive at the apartment complex around 2:30am and go inside and do my thing. Around 4am, I hear my alarm go off (I have my Hella Supertones wired to my alarm), and I automatically knew it had to be my car. I ran outisde still in my boxers and a wifebeater, and grabbed my torque wrench from the closet. Right when I step outside, I see some lowlife mother***ker sitting in my car. Of course I made the mistake of yelling at the guy and he gets out and starts running off. I tried to catch him but he ended up hoping over the nearby fence and fleeing off on foot. If I didnt spend $120 on my torque wrench, I probably wouldve thrown it at him to try to slow him down. What I'm thinking I shouldve done was keep quit and sneak from behind the guy and bash in his skull with my wrench. But at the time, it happened so quick I really didnt think about it and went on instinct.
I'm thinking the guy came to collect another car because 3 cars down was a black 99-00 EM1 SI, and I think when he saw my R, he decided to go for the bigger jackpot. Usuallly, if I spend the nite with her at her place, I keep the R in her garage and she keeps her 05 Civic outside, but since I got there at 2am, I didnt wanna go thru the hassle of switching cars since I was only gonna be there for a couple hours. Low and behold, the one nite it's not in the garage, it was almost stolen.

How he got in:

^ You can see where he forced a flathead screwdriver or something to pry the door open. The door jam is slightly bent, but it's hard to tell in the second picture.

Yeah, I really wish I caught the guy because I'm sure he has to do with the recent car jackings in my area lately. So far 2 Civic Si's and 1 GSR have gotten stolen in the last week in my area. Thank God I decided to wire the horn honk to my alarm because I'm somewhat a heavy sleeper. I'm seriously thinking about getting together with some fellow friends and set up some kind of bait car to catch these bags of scum in the act. I'm tired of this stuff where I actually have to worry about my car. I refuse to lose the R especially since I bought it in mint condition with only 94k miles on her when I bought her earlier this year

I think he intended for the whole car. I had nothing really in the car except for my Ipod that was in my glovebox and a couple books for school. But then again, the inside of an ITR itself is enough of a grabbag full of goodies. Especially since I just bought the 01 ITR faux carbon fiber climate control, cupholder, etc from my friends wreck car.

x 2. in all honesty, i instinctively would have probably started yelling profanities. but seriously, you need to make sure that in your state, you can actually defend your property with force. and the main thing to keep in mind is that you can't use deadly force to defend property... only reasonable force. how you interpret that and your state's laws, i'll leave that to you. GL and be safe!

low-life m********. they need to just get jobs like the rest of us.

Next time call the Power Puff Girls...

Seriously, good save! Maybe its a good thing that you yelled, you never know what these guys are packing. You could've been bringing a torque wrench to a gun fight! Hella air horns ftw, i have a set on my civic...

Lucky you still have your car! I hope they catch the guy.

On a similar note 4 guys tried to steal my car yesterday in the middle of the day outside of my office! My alarm went off and I got to my car in time but they had actually waited for me to come out and go back in to my office to call the police and then when other people were looking around, they saw them in the bushes.

Keep a look out around your car if you are in the Melville Long Island area as it seems they are scoping the entire areas for cars. Silver integra, guys wearing hoodies... Below is the carnage from the attempt

to AW- sorry about your car man, I live down here in TX so the theft is kinda high in the city areas but I'm nowhere near the city, and I was just in the city to go to the gf's place.

and to VTECROAR96typeR - I dont think it took me that long to get out there. Maybe like 45 seconds or so. I didnt even have enough time to put on pants or a shirt.

Glad you were able to keep you caR tonight. Sucks about the damage
Smashing his head in would have been quite satisfying.

Keep heR safe mang, he'll definitely be keeping an eye on your girl's house....reason enough to snuff him imo.
