Default b18b in 97 4 door?

i am not looking to race or "go all out" with that said i am looking for better power for hills for cheap.

would i run into any ECU probs with emmisions, putting a b18b obd2 into my car 97 4 door?
i have done other swaps in the past but all pre 94 (emissions in my state).

meanign throwing codes like a gas tank or other?

i am trying to become a trooper so i am trying to keep most things legit. NY doesn't care much about swaps as long as it passes inspection.

my question now is: did the OBD2 integras have a gas tank pressure sensor? because my 4dr LX does not. and i am trying not to have any issues...

thanks

Keeping the engine OBD2 may make some things more difficult. I think that OBD2B Integra ECUs make use of an immobilizer and cannot be used for swaps (but don't quote me on that).

Converting to OBD1 is much easier in a lot of respects.

honestly i need to keep it obd2. i totally understand the reasons for going obd1 but i can not fake emisions... i want my background check to be as clean as it can be. but i am a wrencher at heart lol

staying away from the second series obd2 is no biggie. can anyone tell me if the Tegs had pressure sensors in the gas tank?

I think the integras have the pressure sensor. PM Eran, i'm about 99.9% sure when he did his B18B swap he swapped in an EX gas tank for that reason.

they do, OBD2B covering '99 - '00 civics and '99 - '01 Integras, only the integras use an immobilizer though. So as long as you use an OBD2A LS ECU you wont have any problems in that respect. So long as the car is a 5 speed it should be a very simple swap with the only wiring being the extending of a few wires to reach certain sensors and rewiring the IACV.

I installed a B20Z into a 96 Civic, power difference is night and day....amazing upgrade. Even going uphill, just add gas and go, no need to downshift. I didn't have to, but did go the route of running OBD1, i think its better, especailly for tuning.

are they as accessable as a b18b?

i don't wanna go spending a tone of money really.
and you didn't run into any problems the codes being thrown? plug and play?

if you go obd1 and run a ls stock ecu you will be fine on emissions and not have to worry about the pressure sensor

My setup was np. I run a 2000 model B20Z with 2000 model integra LS tranny/axles, and use a 1993 obd1 pr4 ecu with frog jumper harness. Swap is great and definitely makes more power than an B18 i've ever driven.

Yes, swap was pretty much plug and play

just so you know, it will not be fine on inspection. NYS plugs into obd2 cars and therefore it will be looking for items that aren't there. so fail. and if the pressure sensor in the gas tank trigers a check engine light then the car doesn't pass. this is why i was asking for people that knew for sure.

i do not want to go through the ordeal of plugging in a odb2 ecu during inspection/emissions and hope it doesn't fire bad while inspection is going.

an obd1 ecu is out of the question. now lets start with what i wanna do, obd2. i wouldn't be asking these stupid questions if i wanted to go obd1.
i cannot do anything dishonest like TRICKING the inspection. i am trying to become a state trooper.

Yes they do, but there are ways around it. I have one in my car.
