Default Better choice of motor mounts - haev Avids now H22 EH swap.

I have Avid Racing mounts in my swapped EH H22. The car shakes - a lot! my steering wheel rattles like it has a mind of it's own as down the glovebox! And the ground celarance has destoryed 2 headers even on full siff on tokicko illunina adjustable and minimal lowering.

Is there a better option for mounts that will help with these issues or are all h22 swap pretty much like this?

the rattling and shaking you describe sounds more like a wheel balance or tyre problem rather than a mount problem.

can you please provide more details. is the rattling and shaking consistent throughout the rev range or is it only at idle or low in the revs?

solid engine mounts will inevitably cause more vibration to pass from the motor to the car but it shouldn't cause what your describing.

Sorry i should have been more clear, the shaking in the steering and interior happens at idle. Under load it's fine.

I have 75A urethane mounts and my car vibrates like a bastard, my rear view is useless at most rpm. Makes it feel like a race car. I love it.

ok, well that is a normal by-product of switching to solid mounts. there are different ratings of the material offered by some companies within the mount itself that has an effect on the extra level of vibration passed on through the car but either way, solid engine mounts are gonna give you noticable vibration at idle and low in the rev range.

Just a characteristic of solid motor mounts.

My avid mounts are urithane orange. I imagine they are an older set just looking at em (I bought the car with the swap, and he used a lot of older used parts).

I can deal with the vibration, the only real annoyance is that the steering wheel really shakes a lot at idle, if I don't hold it it's actually quite embarrasing.

The biggest question though is ground clearance. Are there any mounts that will raise th motor more than waht I have. My header is destroyed,a nd my oil pan is dented. I'm on header #2 (raised the coilovers). I'm loosing power from the header being crushed so badly, and if i replace it again i'd like to make sure it's not going to hit anymore!

Check out the ESP EG/DC H22A/F Motor Mount Kit. We have a How To section on our site that goes into detail. We came out with the kit for many reasons that current kits, we weren't happy with. Axle Aligment, Shock Tower Clearance PS accessible etc...

ground clearance is always going to be an issue

and the vibration you are feeling are from stiff motor mounts

Its a good thing you dont want movement in the motor because thats when parts let go

I can live with vibration, but I wonder if the steering wheel vibrating an inch in either direction when my hand is of the wheel is normal?

For all you H22 swapped EG ppl,how do you stop your header from gretting destroyed?
