Default EG hatch Vs. Ek hatch: PROs & CONs

What up HT. I getting back into the game. Ive been out to long. I had a ef9, pretty much converted to all the jdm specs. But I'm almost finished with my motor and want to get a few opinions on both the EG and EK hatchbacks. You know the pros and cons. It would help me a lot to know some of the goods and bads, clearance issuse (motor) and availability of parts. I know the final decision would be up to me. Thanks in advance.

Depends on alot really. WHich one do you think looks better? If your not gonna use HID's the EK lights are alot brighter IMO. other then that, just about every CO. makes the same parts for both cars. WHich motor are you intending on putting in? It's illeagle to put a lower ODB in a newer car. EX: putting in a d16z6(ODB1) into a 96-00(ODB2) depending on where you live you could have problems with that. Other wise its all up to you bro.. try searching also it could help you make your final decision

NoOoOoOoOo! Not again! I searched for that huge thread that happened a few weeks ago, mainly between NOFX, B18C5_EH2, B Serious, and I was in there a little. I wouldn't be surprised if it got deleted.

EG B-series swaps use all the Integra mounts, linkage, harness.
EK needs SI mounts, Linkage, and you have to chop a harness up.
EGs are easy to find in the junkyard, while the EK is harder to find.

X2, I was there for that as well, surprisingly there was a lot of good info posted on both sides of the argument, particularly from B18C5-EH2 and NOFX.

Integra '94 - '01 linkage still works. The biggest thing that annoys me about the harness is the 3 wire IACV on the CX/DX/Automatic EX.

well, i would say if your looking for an easy swap and readily available parts go with the eg. lots of people have parts for them. its also lighter than the ek. I personally like the look of the ek over the eg. i own an ek. the only con to the ek is the pain in the @ss wiring harness but if you "BALLER STATUS" that won't be much of an issue. its a win win situation either way. and as for clearance issues... its not a big deal. what do you expect. nothing major though.

Ek is more sexy, I hate eg. I don't know why, but it always gave me problems (it's easily get rusted). In my 92,93, and 95, maybe I want to try my luck on 94, but EK is the way to go.

EG=cheaper, lighter, easier to get parts for, still has SI trim (USDM), glass headlights,OBD1
EK- more expensive, harder to find parts for, not as good factory options, cheap plastic headlights, OBD2

my .02

not always true.. the 92-95 civic si models weighs 30 more pounds than the 96-97 civic hatchback Cx.. at around 2304lbs stock!! the 92-95 civic si hatch weighs 2330lbs stock. also the plastic headlights last longer than the eg models.. and are less lighlty to fog up inside..

ek is more expensive BUT it looks good and parts are NOT harder to find.. if anything its easier.. not as good factory options? they have dual airbags, better center console, and better cluster in my opinion and can be converted to obd1 if needed..

damn right he got beat lol.

EG's have more better options regarding ECU and wiring (OBD1) as well as compatibility with dc integra stuff. They look better IMO, not too old and not too new. Gotta love the trunk/tailgate lol.

I've never owned an EK, but the EGs are lighter, just as rigid and have all the same performance part options as the EK. EFs are bad ***, but very very hard to come by and EGs are a nice alternative. Plus, you can't go wrong with the look of the EGs.
