I've bought some PR3 pistons from NPR, no complaints here.

Eh it will be like boosting your factory pistons. They're not meant to be a strength upgrade and are normally used for N/A builds even though they sell some "low compression" castings.

x2, factory cast piston is basically what you're getting. if you do boost, get a good and i mean GOOD tune and don't get carried away with the HP. at 300whp and under the {stock} b18c seems to live for a few years. above 400whp, they become time bombs

There's a good thread over at Team Integra about a member who boosted with Nippon Pistons. One ended up failing and blew chunks of metal all through his water jacket. Block was toast as were the valves but the head was somehow OK.

this happens to lots of stockish bottom ends when you get crazy with the pressure. something eventually gives. the rods also get nervous at 400whp. unless i was throwing money at a drag car there's no way i would take a stock b18c over 300whp, doing so just puts you on the clock

I already have my CTR's just waiting to get them machined to accept a floating wrist pin and then progress continues.

Will they be full floating when youre done? in the piston hole and rod hole? I heard that causes problems.

Did you get the standard bore or oversized?

I got 82mm, oversize by 1mm or .040.

Yes they will be full floating; if you were to buy a set of aftermarket forged rods and pistons they will be full floating. Factory rods are press fit but I'm using forged I-Beams with the CTR's because I got a deal on them.

Nippon and RS Machine are quality manufactures that sell on ebay and are very reputable. Now other than those two I'm not too sure.

you guys do realize the difference between full floating and press fit right? a press fit floats in one place or the other. generally you expand the pin in the rod and let it float in the piston. full floaters float in the piston and the rod. with aftermarket rods it's not a big deal. on a factory rod. you're honing out material that isn't exactly thick in order to insert a bronze bushing. full floaters also use clips to hold the pin in place. easier on a tear down but in theory less reliable than a press fit. if you have factory style cast slugs and factory rods, make the job easier and stay press fit. aftermarket pistons full float pistons can be setup either way, the choice should be with what rods you have.

Yes exactly. I'm having the CTR pistons machined to accept a c-clip because I'm running aftermarket rods.

so I've been looking for a thread with someone using a npr pistons with boost. I want to see what kind of power did others make with theses pistons reliably.

make power reliably is all over the forced induction forum. in fact i already gave away the numbers in my previous posts. seriously though. it depends on the tune, how hard you drive it on a daily basis and how well you control the heat. at 300whp you will live for awhile. at 400whp the whole engine is starting to get nervous. if i remember right , the top hp figure for a stock b18c was something like 618whp. it's anyones guess how long that engine will be alive

Did you not read the thread before posting? Those pistons aren't any stronger than a factory piston so just sarch for how much hp can you make on a STOCK motor.
