Icon6 Driver side power mirror wont move...

the driver side power mirror wont move on my 96 civic EX.
when the door is closed, and i try to move the mirror using the switch it wont move at all. not a budge!

but when i open the door a little, under half way open and more, the mirror moves just fine.
any ideas what can be causing this?

Best I can think is that theres a short in the door for the power mirrors. Like its grounding itself out when the door is shut, pull your panel off and check all your wires and look for broken or bear connections.

Good luck. Electrical problems usually get on my nerves. Especially when you finally found it, that it was something sooooo simple.

It is the wires that come from the fender into the door. THe pins on the connector break off from being opened and closed. Take the bumper, fender, fender liner, and side skirts off anf looks at the connector. I willing to bet the pins are broken. I just fixed mine last week, on the drivers side. My power locks stopped working, hard to hardwire the harness. Had the same problem on my passenger side, the speaker would work with the door open, but stop when the door was closed. Take your time, make sure the wires match and you will be back in business.
