Default DIY: Del Sol Panels Upholstery

OK well I was getting bored with the gray crappy material on my stock 93 door panels so I figured what the hell I'll make it match my headliner.

Step 1: Remove the door panel

Step 2: Select the material you want to use ( I got 3yrds of this for $6:00 at Wal-Mart

Step 3: Remove all the window trim piece on the top of the panel. (has little bendable pins on the back side of the door panel)

Step 4: Start drilling out all the plastic welds on the door panel (I used a dremel but a drill will work)

Step 5
: Cut out your fabric to a desired size and spray glue on the panel. When tacky gently begin putting the fabric on the panel and be sure the fabric lines up (I'm going to redo my driver side because of this. lol) NO pIcs

Step 6: When fabric is dry begin hot gluing or re-welding the panel back on

Step 7: Admire you achievement and let your friends drool over how cool you are because you have a plaid interior. lol

Thanks for reading my first DIY and if you have questions or comment feel free to ask.

Well props on doing a fairly clean job, but seriously you couldn't have picked a less ugly fabric? And whats wrong with the gray, those doors look to be in great condition anyway :p

Nice write up. the last photo really shows why it s so hard to use a fabric with stripes in it. It is so hard to keep the line straight when installing. I am glad you like the fabric but wow not what I would have used.

Thanks everyone! Yeah the plaid may seem really tacky in the pics but man does it look baller in the car. And yes I will probably do suede next spring but for $6 I can't complain.

BTW The passenger side is way better then the driver side panel, it's a hell of alot straighter

Well lets see it's below 30 out and all I have is crappy flat black paint at the house so yeah there staying gray till I redo the panels again this spring. I also want to use a softer material underneath the fabric so it's more comfortable to use as a arm rest. lol Hell I might even find some Burberry and really pimp it out.

BTW Thanks to everyone who said they thought it was a good idea.
