New to detailing, need some help.
Alright guys, ive been reading through some threads on here looking at all the different products offered and i dont know what to do.
A couple weeks ago i let my little cousin wash my car, just paid him to do it, well he ended up using a sponge with a rough side to wash my car. It left terrible swirl marks all over my car, because basicly it was like taking a scotch brite pad to my car, infact i think the sponge was made by scotch brite.
I dont where to start, i want to get products and do the detail my start, and get some detailing experience under my belt because i would like to beable to regular detail scratchs out of my car.
Any and all help is apprechated, also just for for the record i did read the fact at the top of the page, it had a lot of good info but also confussed me quite a bit. Although i did learn from it that to get any good detailling products you need to shop at outfits on the internet, and not at autozone or whatever.

How much money do you want to spend. Less money = more time or more money = less time. How perfect do you want this to turn out? If you are going to get a PC you can get the G100 the megs polishing pad, M80 and some NXT wax or some #20 / 21. That with a couple of MF towels would run just under $200, but would make an awesome combo. You can always go with something like color X or cleaner wax and do the whole car by hand. I would also buy a bottle of scratch X for the areas that need a little more TLC. good luck!

Do you have a local paint supply store near you? If so they might carry the Meguiar's Mirror Glaze line. I would go and pick up some speed glaze #80 and a Meguiars foam polishing pad with a Porter Cable polisher and see what kind of results you get.The products are pretty cheap and the porter cable will probably run you about 130 bucks. If you have any other questions you can PM me.

Are there any detaling packeges you guys would recommend? I was looking at the Sonus Perfect Paint Finish Clay & Polish Kit, found here http://www.autopia-carcare.com/son-ppf-kit.html. I figured i will need a clay bar before i polish out my scratchs because i get a lot of crap on my car that isnt easily taken off, which is why the rough side of a sponge was used in the first place. I was gonna buy some stuff then do this procedure, correct me if im wrong.
1. wash car
2. clay bar car
3. polish out scratchs
4. wax car
5. go inside relax and have a cold drink.

• Polish: A true polish contains an abrasive that will remove scratches or oxidized paint. It also will bring a dull finish to a shine. More aggressive polishes can remove orange peel, deep scratches, and also oxidized paint.
Example of Polish
A pre wax is just as the name implies, to get the surface ready for wax to be applied. Tar spots, some tree saps and various other surface contaminates are usually not taken off by a product that is termed wax only. Your better precleaners have a small amount of abrasive in them, and a lot of the wax/cleaners on the market have a very high content of solvents in them, be aware of this.
A scratch/Swirl remover is specially formulated using diminishing abrasives that quickly and safely remove light scratches and swirls without harming clear coat finishes.
I hope that helps.
