Faq has me confused (MPFI conv)
I am finally ready to convert to mpfi so I started reading the guides and planning my work
unfortunately the guides have me totally twisted
this is a D15B (91dx) i have all the parts listed from the faqs for my OBD0 MPFI conv (from a 90 D16A6 in a 4drEX
All the threads on the mpfi conversion speak of wires starting with "A" "B" or "C"
what connector is this?
I have the helm manuals and have been trying to match them up
I am thinking
A = C541
B = C452
C = C453
BUT
the pin numbers in the faqs dont match to the numbers in the manual
--------------------------
Injector Wiring:
A3 is a yellow wire in the guide and gets connected to inj #2
According to the manual;
C451 pin 3 (dx) is a red wire -- main injector
(si) is a lt blu wire -- inj #3
A7 is a red wire in the guide -- inj #4
C451 pin 7 (dx & si) is a yel/blk wire in the guide (and is not an injector wire)
the manual shows si injectors in pins 1-4 of C451 (A1,A2,A3,A4??????)
----------------------------
Crank Sensor:
C1 is orange in the guides
C453 pin 1 (dx) is orange in helms
guide says to move it to B10
C452 pin10 (si) connects to the Electronic Load Detection unit NOT the crank sensor
C452#15 (B15??) is the orange wire for the crank sensor on the si
C2 is white in the guides
C453#2(dx) is orn/blu and connects to TDC sensor NOT crank sensor
C453#9 (C9??) is the white crank sensor wire on the dx
Guide says to move it to B12
C452#12(si) is the AC/on input NOT crank sensor
C452#16 (B16??) is white side of crank sensor on the si
---------------------------
Cylinder Sensor:
Guides say to connect this to C1 and C2
according to manual CYL sensor connects to C453#21 & #29 (C21 & C29 ??)
I have not determined what the manual says actually connects to C453#1&2
--------------------------
I cant figure out which way is up after reading the guides
all the links from the faq sounded so simple till I actually tried applying them

what you have for reference is the Honda Factory Electrical Manual ECU pin locations - the Helms and Chilton manuals number the pins differently - most of the DPFI to MPFI wiring instructions refer to the way the Helms and Chilton manuals number the pins - the factory manual numbers them 1 thru # consecutively (1,2,3,4,5,etc.) on the top row and then continues with # to # consecutively (11,12,13,etc.) on the bottom row - the Helms and Chilton manuals alternate the numbers between rows so that the odd numbers (1,3,5,7,etc.) are on the top row and the even numbers (2,4,6,8,etc.) are on the bottom row - the numbers go left to right when looking at the wire side of the connector - Si injectors are at A1, A3, A5, A7 - A is the largest connector #C451 and C is the smallest connector #C453 - don't know why they are numbered differently - if you look at the connectors themselves, they have the numbers right on the connector that match the factory manual

yea what he said ^. just go by the guides. forget that manual you have. i haven't dont this swap, or needed to, but many people i've read have had much success using this dpfi to mpfi writeup

I definitely wont forget the manuals I have (they have the correct numbering)
and they have not failed me in any other task yet.
Thanks for clearing up the mistakes in the guides, Both of you guys :D
If the guides in the FAQ had a diagram of the connector (like your post brilliantly does, thanks again), I would have been able to translate the swapper guide to the Honda numbering
Like Jilicrx said, the connectors have the numbering printed on them but the guide authors decided to use their own numbering (I will restrain myself from commenting further on the Chilton and Haynes "manuals")
after all doesnt 1,2,3,4 make more sense for inj 1,2,3,4 instead of the guides crazy 1,3,5,7??
Maybe I will make Yet another conversion guide with factory correct numbering
