Lights dim when VTEC hits...?

Default Lights dim when VTEC hits...?

Weird problem on my Z6; when the engine hits about 4900-5200 RPM (which is where VTEC kicks in usually), all my lights dim. It's pretty noticeable too, I'm not sure what could be the cause. Any ideas?

i wanna say that its a ground wire somewhere thats linked up to your main battery source....are you running anything to your battery directyly ie: beats,hid,alarm etc....?

There was an alarm on the car when I bought it, but it wasn't functioning properly and I don't think it's hooked up. I do have beats though, I've got an amp and sub running in it.

did you get it prof. installed? cuz sometimes even the cheap shops will run it directly to your battery and it will drain your power....but still idk why it would dim only when your vtec hits...

Alternator belt slipping? Check the belt tension.

check the ground on your thermostat housing. i know it sounds too simple but mine was doing it at about 3800. only thing i could figure when the motor rolled back (motor mounts all dead) it moved. prolly not it but easy fix if it is

Alternator is fine, just replaced the alternator and belt, timing belt and water pump about 2 weeks ago.

all the more reason to check the alternator belt. just because you replaced it doesnt mean you got it tight enough

2nd that, belts tend to stretch so if you didn't get it tight enough when you hit the powerband lol, (vtec) the belt slips, dimming your lights

very good point, it is normal on a honda to have lights that dim under different electrical load situations, depending on what the ELD decides.
