H22 Ls axle 1/4 inch axle play (in & out) ? (not around)

I just replaced my axle.

when I got the axle into the trans I hit the outer end with a hammer to get it all in!

but I can put my fingers between the trans and the axle and move it 1/4 inch in and out.

Is this normal? ~ should I hammer harder? ~ Is the clip really that hard to get in?

did you feel the axle "lock" into the transmission?

 

its not in all the way. it needs to be flesh with the transmission. put a 2x4 on the axle and beat it with a hammer.

 

You can always turn the car on and see what happens. Frankly you are probally going to have leakin fluid.
