Default smoking b16a2

Hey, everyone. I have a 2000 si with 134k on it. A couple months ago it started smoking and using oil. I put in a new pcv valve and that didn't help. I don't have money for a swap, but I could probably scrape up enough for new oil rings/valve seals. How much do shops charge for this. If you have any other suggestions I would like to hear them too. Thanks. In the meantime my si sits and I drive the cd5.

first do a compression test to see if your piston rings are sealing. your numbers should be around 210 psi on all. if its good then your next thing is the valve seals. depending on the shops rate you could spend 30-100 ish or whatever they charge.

when does it smoke? just on start up, acceleration, after sitting in traffic for a while, etc?

x2 on the compression test.

packman is on the right trail. If it smokes during acc. then its bad rings/walls. If it's during decc or at start up then it's bad valve seals. Both are pretty pricey to replace.
