meh pointless, why would you want your car to think it has 2 cams when it only has one? different tunes for different motors.

because i've seen people use a p28 on an si and on an ecu it basically looks for a crank position sensor and nothing with cams if i'm correct. so i was just wondering if there would be any complications if i plugged the gsr ecu to brain my mini me

sell the gsr ecu and get the stock one. its cheaper and easier. the two motors are ran differently and controlled in diff ways that also vary by the year

you can do it. there is nothing wrong with it. my buddy has a 94 dx coupe and he put a JDM p72 ecu. he said the car had a whole new feel to it and pulled much better but he took it out. he just put it on to see if there was a difference.
if i were, stick to stock or tune that ish properly. nothing like a properly tuned car!

The reason you see P28s used on some B series is because that's one of the most commonly chipped ECUs. I currently have a chipped P28 running my GSR, but it has an entirely different map on it than it did from Honda. Stock ECU probably wouldn't be the best idea though..

Also, try to keep it civil in here. If you're not going to offer beneficial info and just bash people, i WILL delete your posts and possibly worse. I hope it doesn't have to come to that. Thanks

my buddy almost brough a civic from a guy that claims to know everything about honda, and he was telling my buddy and me that he's running a gsr ecu in his civic and it gives him about 20hp to the wheel. I had a good laugh when he told me that. but the point is you shouldn't run ecu not design for your engine, unless you want to wear it down more.

X2, P28s are commonly used because they're relatively easy to find compared to P72s and P30s and can easily be reprogrammed. Once the ECU is chipped what it was originally designed for becomes irrelevant. Running a stock P72 will not make any more power as others have already stated, it will run rich.

thats what i was trying to get at... i wasn't knocking the OP because right now i have a stock p28 running my b16 and i hate it. phearable.net is taking next to forever to get my chip to me but eh it runs still just not as good as it should.

all these ecu's are tuned differently because they are all different motors. they have different vtec cross overs, different air/fuel ratios and different redlines. OP i wasn't trying to say the p28 would look for two cams i was just trying to point out that because there are two cams in a GSR the tune is going to be much different then a sohc vtec motor. ya know? and yes i do believe it would be pretty stupid to run a p72 on a sohc motor hoping for power gains. :-/. i am sure all the claims that it makes a good difference are just on the butt dyno. haha if anything i bet a p72 would hurt your cars overall performance

i understood what you said, but i was also just questioning things i didn't know and see if i was wrong. you know what i mean. now i have a better understanding of thing ecu wise. everyone around, not on the site but people i know they are always swapping their ecu back and fourth and i never understood why i know the diff like the redline and vtec crossover but other than that clueless to why they do that.

hmmm. i was using a jdm p30 [obd1 b16] on my z6 before, it ran better with than the p28.
but was putting in too much gas, or running lean.

they're both 1.6 so i figured id use a more aggressive fuel curve.
but then i ended up selling the car.

also dont forget that the p72 has the IABs for the GSR and no d series motor has IABS so you might want to take that into consideration
