Default Tricking the SRS computer

Well im doin a QR & steering wheel pretty soon and thought i might be able to pull this off. My question is, has anyone tried tricking the computer by putting a resistor inline to make the computer think that the airbag is still in place?

I found an article on the internet about doin this to a honda insight with a 2 ohm resistor. Just wondering if that 2 ohm resistor would do the trick?

I dont plan on metering the airbag!

If i dont do this, ill probably just disconnect the bulb at the cluster.

If both airbags are removed, just unplug the SRS computer.

so if you put an ohm meter on the airbag, will that set it off?

How did that other guy determine he needed a 2W 2.2 ohm resistor?

guessing that the signal changes when the system fails or is removed. the resistor could change the signal that trips the light to one that doesn't. i'm interesting in this one myself since the SRS light is on and you can't remove the bulb since it's tied into a cluster.

I would hope not, it shoud need some sort of larger voltage pulse to pop the airbag.
If you check the resistance across the airbag, you could find out what resistor to use. Just keep clear and use common sense. Accidentaly hooking it up to 12V may very well set it off.

I wouldnt even touch an airbag with a meter or anything for that mater. Ive seen what they can do. We intensionally set one off in a empty parking lot and it flew up proly 20 ft or so.

But if you have the ***** to meter one more power to u. Just dont forget to video tape it so u can put on you tube. lol

I think they get the resistance from a shop manual that techs use at dealerships for diagnosing the srs computer and such.

you can remove the bulb. i know this because ive done it. take your cluster out and the bulb is inside the only yellow plastic piece where bulbs go. use a phillips head to take the screw that holds the yellow plastic piece off and youll be able to get the bulb out.

i have a momo steering wheel and no passenger airbag in my drag car and i got tired of looking at the stupid srs light. hence why i took it out.
