Default Need help getting rid of SRS Light with 2.2 OHM Resistor

**EDIT**

Maybe one of the mods can change the title and post this up in the DIY thread or whatever since I couldn't find a thread specifically for a 92-95 Civic on how and where to install the 2.2 OHM resistor on the SRS main harness.

Since I recently installed a Momo/NRG wheel setup, of course there will be no more airbag, therefore triggering the SRS light. Instead of removing the SRS bulb from behind the cluster or disconnecting the SRS plug behind the cluster, I wanted to use the resistor method.

I bought a 2W 2.2 OHM resistor (comes in a 2 pack) from FRY's Electronics for a dollar and some change.

Here is what is left after you completely remove and unplug the SRS reel on a '92-'95 Civic. A 6-pin connector right under the steering column. The pin farthest to the left is for the horn (pin #6), (Picture courtesy of weaksauce.org from their installation thread. Hope they don't mind me using this for reference)

So I decided to go on and perform the trial and error method and figure out which pins on the 6-pin connector I should stick the ends of the resistor in (couldn't find anything in my Helms on which wire was which). But you are going to be sticking the resistor into pin #1 (farthest to the right in picture) and pin #3 (third from the right).

Simple as that. And don't forget to reset your SRS light after.

I didn't take any pics of my actual process, but it's no harder than installing a steering wheel setup, so you should be able to figure it out. Stick it in the two pins, and then wrap it snug with electrical tape.

Also, this was done on my '95 EX coupe, which has both SRS and cruise control. I'm not sure about 92-95 Civics without cruise control, but it should be the same (pins 1 and 3). Pins 4 and 5 on my plug I'm positive are for my cruise, while pin #2 is unoccupied.

well i decided to go ahead and bust the trial and error method, and i finally figured out which pins the resistor goes into on the 6 pin connector.

I just got done doing this as well. For those of you that still need to know, place the 2.2 ohm resistor between pins 1 and 3.

nice.. i could make a plug and play connector since i have a few of those male connectors that go into them... i could put the horn wire on it too... that was mainly the reason i have those connectors

could u post the color of the wires that the resistor will be used in? im trying this on my integra and the plug is different, but the wires are color coded so the color of the wires should be the same if im not mistaken righT?

Are you sure it was 2 watt resistor? Radio shack only sells 1/2 and 1/4 watt resistors, in 2.2k ohm. Will a .5W 2.2k ohm resistor work?

Oh, wait a second. Is it definitely 2.2 ohm and not 2.2k ohm?

Yep definetly a 2.2 ohm. It's there to simulate the inflator module in the airbag.

would the pass air bag still function correctly or would this just remove the light?

YES, it does both things. The resistor tricks the system into thinking the driver's side air bag is STILL there (NO SRS LIGHT), therefore, the passenger will still work. I did this same thing after installing my Nardi wheel for piece of mind. Last thing I wanted to do was hurt a passenger in the event of an accident. I take the risk by driving without an airbag, that's on ME.
