Default What oil filter do you use?

I was searching on this subject and came up with some threads, but nothing that would sway me one way or another, I have been using Bosch's filters and I am curious as to what you all use in your cars. I grenaded my turbo a couple months back and had a ton of metal go down the return and into the pan, I cleaned it all out but before I restart the car on Friday I want to put the best filter I can get on the car and run it for a few minutes and then change the oil again.

Lets keep this on subject too..............

I've always used Hastings filters and Amsoil synthetic racing oil. Recommended by a shop owner who has built and raced many race cars. Supposedly tests out higher than other 'speciality' (Pure 1, etc.) filters. Thanks for the reminder - I'll go check out the specs myself.

I use K&N but can't honestly justify why they would be better than any other. If Honda filters were readily available to me I'd probably use them.

Same here. I dont have any proof that they are better than others, but I have never had any issues with them.

I run Hamp filters. I buy them by the case of 10 which comes out to be just a couple dollars more then a filter from the dealership.

Its my understanding that the K&N Filter flows more oil but that is due to the fact that it filters far less than your standard oil filter, which is why I have stayed away from the K&N

Diddo! Honda knows best and even has a performance filter called Hamp... you can pick them up from KingMotorsports.com, single or by the case.

If Honda did choose Fram, why would you steer clear? They obviously trust the people they get to make their filters.

Although I don't think Honda has Fram making their filters. I think they are made by Honda of Canada.

I use O.E. Honda filters on all of my Hondas. No matter how crucial the build.

http://minimopar.knizefamily.net/oil.../opinions.html

pretty good info here

honda does not have fram making their oil filters beings fram doesnt even make their own oil filters, honeywell makes fram and honda as well as many other automotive companies' filters

the filters by HAMP are made by toyo-roki... and the filters in the US are made by honeywell/fram... two totally filters. and the link wilham320 will show that to you...

and i cant honestly say honda knows best in every single situation...

if you read the thread wilham320 posted you would see why... and yes the majority of the filters are made by honeywell....

"Allied Signal owns Honeywell and they also own Fram"

and you can also ask the NSX guys how they feel about the PL2-004 filter made by toyo-roki being discontinued and being substituted for the honeywell "small" filter.

as of right now im using the Purolator PureOne filters.

if anyone wants to go really in depth when it comes to oil or oil filters... check out bob is the oil guy...

Learn something new everyday. I'll continue to use them. I'm sure Hondas quality control won't let something slip up.
