Default CRX dies upon start up, sometimes

I have an intermittant problem with my CRX upon start up. Sometimes it starts up, idles low and then dies. But then if I keep trying, it will start and run just fine.

At first I was thinking it could be the main relay that's causing the rough starts, but I'm not sure if main relay problems usually consist of the car not starting at all, hence my problem could be something else.

Anyone know if it could be main relay related?

Yes the Main Relay wil sometimes not let your car start. Check your rotor and dizzy make sure everything is clean and secure (loose rotor) if everything seems ok I would get the MR resodered or just replace it new. Had this problem with my DA integra and then my CRX it was the Main Relay both times. My integra did the exact same thing.

Sometimes I would play with turning the key to ON position on and off a few times then starting it.

dang, i'm experiencing the same problem but mine does that after the car has just been driven.

I heard it might be the main relay or the fuel injectors? I hope someone post some feedback...i'm in need of help too.

9 times out of ten it's the main relay.

cracks in the solder expand as it gets hot, which is why it always seems to happen when you've been out for a while and stopped for petrol or nipped into a shop.

I posted a link a few days ago in someone elses main relay thread in this section with a how to guide for sorting it out without forking out for a new main relay from Honda
