Default 93 civic hatchback has jerk when turning

I would greatly appreciate any help with this one. this is my first front wheel drive car and i'm at a loss. The car is a 93 hatchback with the smallest motor and no options no power steering, 5 speed. there is no obvious play in any of the tie rods or joints and i just had the front tires checked and balanced. the car will drive fine for 30 minutes at a time then feel like i'm losing a wheel for ten min then go back to normal. any Ideas?????

sounds more like transmission problems if anything. was this car modified when you bought it?

it could be few things. the only other thing i could guess to think would be the rubber bushing that acts like a balancer that is on your axles. but you can't through out the posiablity of it being tranny problems.

Check both lower ball joints with the car off the ground. lift up on the botom of the tire and see if you have any play. I had one fail this way, it only had play in a vertical motion and had no lateral play. It caused a problm like what you are having.
