Default Weak hand brake

I drive a '97 Prelude SH and the hand brake is very weak. It is almost to the point of sliding down a slope if I don't have it in gear. Now that the snow is about to set in for winter, I was wondering if anyone knew how I can tighten the hand brake or at least where I can find how to do it. Any help would be appreciated.

lets try to be a bit more elaborate with our answers..
try any of these links to download a service manual to walk you through it

http://www.superhonda.com/forum/f146...online-303151/

http://www.manualnguide.com/download...ce-manual.html

got both of those by searching prelude service manual on Google. I'm sure you can find more. download and browse freely. i'm pretty sure the mechanical side of it is the same for 4th and 5th gens but removing the console will be a little different

drive backwards with the hand brake up, just make sure to check your brake fluid afterwards.

Pull the handbrake up and put the car in reverse, then drive. Its usually better if you hold the brake and gradually apply pressure. I don't know HOW it work mechanically, I just know that my handbrake barely even worked then I drove it in reverse with the handbrake engaged and it started working MUCH better... it was a recommendation by a mechanic friend of mine, I honestly didn't think it was going to work but I was proven wrong, wasn't the first, wont be the last.

I've never heard of that on rear disc brakes. not that you are wrong.

I know on rear drum brakes in reverse, and when the parking brake is applied, the adjuster is supposed to turn the star wheel providing adjustment.
