Sup y'all. Alright, I've got a quick question.
First off, I have a 91 Si with a d16z6, Rywire Ecu jumper harness, VTEC subharness and obd0 to obd1 dizzy harnesses.
My question is, do I need a p28, or obd1 ecu for my car to run at all? I tried starting my car with the obd1 dizzy but obd0 stock pm6 ecu and nothing. It wont start, is it because I need the obd1 ecu?
Or should the car atleast run with the obd0 ecu?
And also, do I need the 4 wire o2 sensor for my car to run? Or will I just have a CEL?
Thanks.

if you have wired up the jumper harness and the other harness, but just plugged in your pm6 then no the car won't run. If you have left your car unmolested with the other harnesses, you've just dropped the Z6 motor in and still have the pm6 plugged in then the car will run, I don't think you'll have a CEL, but you won't have vtec.
If you have already done the harness install then you'll need an obd1 ecu to run the car. P28s are the best option but there are a few other ecus you can use, though I can't tell you which ones to go for since I don't know off the top of my head.
Once you have the obd1 ecu in and everything wired up, you WILL need a 3 or 4 wire o2 sensor. Obd1 and Obd2 ecus look for the heater element in the o2 sensor and obd0 cars only have a single wire (non heated) o2 sensor. It's an easy fix and you should be able to pick one up for 40 bux or maybe cheaper from a junk yard.
Good luck, hope I've helped out some.

what he sais is true ^ lol
the obd# of the dizzy and ecu must match. at this point all you need is a p28 (stock z6 ecu) and a 4-wire o2. also if you are using the obd1 injectors you have to delete the resistor box. if you'd rather not dick with that you can just swap the obd0 injectors over to the z6 intake. which you might have already done, just throwin it out there lol.

I picked up the car with the z6 in it, to my understanding its the stock wire harness. So I bought everything from rywire to convert to obd1. So my car won't run with the stock obd0 pm6 ecu with the obd1 dizzy ?
Sorry to thread jack a bit, but I wasn't aware that you'd have to delete the resistor box if using 92-95 injectors! I have the d16a6 manifold on mine right now and ran into a ported z6 mani with b16 throttle body, so I'll have to do this. What would you suggest, delete the resistor box and run the z6 injectors? Or just swap injectors and keep the box? Any advantages to either one?
Also are obd0 injectors the only ones that need the resistor box? Thanks man!

No, it will not. OBD0 ecu will only run with a OBD0 dizzy.

I believe DSM injectors need the resistor box but don't hold me to that.
Yes the DSM injectors do need the box and I was thinking of swapping to them when I boost my car. But the real reason I ask is because I'm swapping a Z6 manifold on my car soon and it had the z6 injectors and it's not hard to delete the box, but I'm just wondering if there was an advantage or not. I haven't wire tucked my car, don't know if I will, so I'll probably just run with it. I was gunna sell my a6 manifold so I was wanting to leave it complete for someone who needs it for an mpfi swap. thanks for the answers
well if you are using the z6 im and injectors in it that came with the engine, then it is very likely that they are obd1. so you'll either need to remove the box, or swap the obd0 injectors into the z6 im. it'll run the exact same either way so its up to you.

P28 ECU's can be pretty expensive, another option for an ECU would be to grab a P06 ECU (Found in EGs I believe check out a local junk yard), which are quite a bit cheaper, and convert it to VTEC, using the kit and instructions from www.rywire.com . For the price I would also reccommend looking into chipping the ECU if tuning is in its future.
Also if your motor has any other mods or will if you will in the near future be adding any bolt-ons, I would highly reccommend a good tune, as it is one of the biggest benefits of converting over to OBD1. With a few bolt-ons to your current set-up, and a good tune, you can really liven up your car, also if chipped you do not need to have a 4 wire O2 sensor your 1 wire will work fine.
Hope this helps a bit.
