Default hand brake light

it dnt turn off when i take the brake
off it stays on for a cool min
then it turns off

help? dnt know if its sumthin bad

Yep fluid level sounds like the problem. If not that, check the e-brake sensor..

i'm going with a sticky sensor. it's the same reason half of teh time the "headlights on" ring won't go off in my car when i park and leave the car. might need to be replaced or just cleaned up a bit. if some kind of contaminant got on it it could be sticking

Check your fluid and move the floaty to make sure it moves freely while you check the fluid.

I had this same problem. I checked the brake fluid by opening the cap/lid under the hood. Took the cap off for a sec, then screwed it back on. I havent had a problem since with my sensor. Try that and see what happens.

I have this problem only when it's cold outside and the car has been sitting for a few hours. It always turns off after a short period of time

I thought my brakes were low from seeing my ebrake light do the same, but after adding fluid, the light doesn't come on, even when it's cold like it would before.
