help... battery might be dying?
I've had zero problems over the years with starting my car except for a minor incident with leaving lights on or something. Yesterday I tried to start my car and at first it just clicked a few times like a dead battery would do. If I turn the key, trying to start it a few times it will start to turn over very slowly and gradually speed up enough to start. I put it on a trickle battery charger overnight for about 10 hours and it started fine when I took the charger off. I drove it somewhere (about a 5 to 10 minute trip) and when I came out it seemed a bit sluggish turning over but did start okay. I then drove somewhere else (about a 5 minute trip) and it was doing the clicking and then slowly starting routine again.
I didn't lose any of my stereo settings like I did when I left my lights on and the headlights seem to function normally... they don't flicker or anything when I drive. I don't have pulleys or anything like that, just a stereo with an amp pushing about 500 watts. The only thing that's been changed on the car in the last month or so is that I did the valves about 4 days ago, but it's been fine until last night.
I'm guessing that my battery is just bad and isn't holding a charge anymore. When I hooked it back up to the charger after those 2 short trips, the trickle charger was putting 4 amps to it, which is pretty much characteristic of a dead battery in my experience. The terminals were clean and tight... I checked that. The connections to the alternator seem sound too.
What do you think?

Do you have a security system? When my battery started to get weak my alarm would start acting funny, like not being able to unarm and stuff like that....
I know this probably isn't the probably, but check the wiring harness that's goign to your alternator....
