Default Wideband O2

Hi I am a newb when it comes to tuning, and I did some searching as well but was not able to find out what I need to know. I think I am correct about the fact that to be able to get accurate readings for A/F ratio you need a wideband O2 sensor, correct?(plz let me know if I am wrong about this) Ok well my question is can I run a wideband with obd1? I know of people running them with obd2 or a conversion harness, but im unsure of anything else. Thanks for any help and time you take to read this.

wideband sensors run independent from your ecu if you are just using a gauge, if you traying to tune datalog, only obd1 ecus are able to read it. it looks like you traying to tune with one so their output can be read through pin D14 on obd1 ecus.

ok thanks guys...so was I right about not being able to get accurate A/F readings without a wideband? You know like ive seen people hook them up to there regular sensors, and I don't think this works well.

The stock sensor is very accurate if you want to know if you're at exactly 14.7:1 or not, which is good for emissions. But it's bad if you want to know if you're at 11.8:1 or some other ratio away from stoich. Tuning without a wideband is not a good idea.
