Icon2 new guy with a question.

hello all, great site!! very informative!!

any way, im looking at an EK, its a 96 black DX hatchback. It has 218000 miles on it on original motor. the body is fairly straight and no noticeable damage to it except it needs a windshield bad and the driver mirror is broken off, it is also bone stock. I was wondering how much is reasonable for this? The guy(stealership) wants 3200$ for it. KBB says that trade in on that is 650 dollar, but doesn't have fair condition for stealership price, just perfect, which is 3200. I was think of throwing 1800-2000 dollars cash at him and see what he said.

In saying this, how much do you think this car is worth?? You think that i could knock him down off that ridiculous price?

thanks for replying!!

If you don't by it for 3200 someone else will, price is a little high for the mileage, however dealerships don't tend to flex much on Honda's or anything fuel efficient anymore, but worth a try, and try negotiating "out the door" prices, so they don't get you with dealer fees on top of your negotiated price.

well he has another 96 coupe with 117000 miles for 3600$ this car has 100,000 more miles than this one. Lol and it was the only one on the lot that didnt have a price on the windshield. and BTW, this one of those small car lots, they only had like 6 cars on the lot.

Personally, I'd go after the other 96 coupe with the lower miles, especially if you're already considering spending $3000 on the one without the windshield and really high miles.

dont spend that much, bushings and bearings tend to go bad after 200k and they can get expensive. offer him 2000 and see what he says.
