starting and throttle problems
Hello all!
Well, here we go. I have a 94 accord lx. Yesterday on the way home from work when I got the rpms up to 3000 is starts acting like it is hitting a rev limiter.... rummm......rummmm.....over and over until you let off of it. Then I got it home, thinking it was a catylitic converter problem (the symptoms were identical to my dodge ram last year, which I replace the cat) Then I went to start it this morning and after about ten minutes it finally started, did a lot of popping and would start and then die immediately even with me giving it gas. So, I did an ole' redneck cat bypass (cut it off) and now all I have is a loud *** broken car. Any ideas what could be wrong

You may be up against a condition called "Limp Home", if you've got a Check Engine" lamp staring you in the face (which involves the ecm and it's associated sensors and such) OR
You could be dealing with low / insufficient Fuel Pressure from either a clogged Fuel filter, or a Fuel Pump ready to crap out
I'd start with the in-line fuel filter. it's the cheapest and easiest to get to. (Located on the firewall behind the engine)

The most popular problems are bad distributor or crank sensor if outside of the distributor, a bad computer, a bad injector or wire connection to the injector (misfire). You need to monitor one spark plug grounded outside of the engine (a spare plug grounded to the engine) and watch for even sparks, or use a timing light to watch for even light pulses, same thing.
This problem may take some real diagnostics to figure out.

Alright fella's, I think I am going to start with the simple stuff first. Then move from there cause if it gets to ridiculous I am just going to get her towed away. She was just supposed to be a work beater anyways. Thank you for your help, I will be back with results and what-not
