Default Ordered my 09 SI Sedan

I finally got around to ordering my car in Alabaster Silver. They said it will take about 4 weeks to build it to my specs due to the holiday season. I'm getting it straight from the factory ! Eventually I want to add on that front JDM conversion kit. From reading the posts it seems PasswordJDM.com is a good place to get it, but does anyone have any preferred alternatives? They quoted the price at about 2500. My friend tells me I have to watch out for fiberglass mockups and such.

Doesn't make sense to me. Are you waiting for a specific color? Thanksgiving is already over and the next holiday isn't for another 28 days. What exactly are they "building" on it? Only real dealer add ons are the HFP options.....wheels, kit, muffler, suspension. And for those you should wait until after you get the car to purchase them.....that way you're not financing (and paying interest on) the add-ons throughout the term to. You'll save money.

I'm not buying it from a dealership, because I'm ordering straight from Honda. A direct family member works for them, and I am able to get it at associate cost. I save a couple thousand in the process.

Believe me if I were being a smartass.....everyone would know it. What the OP was saying simply didn't make sense so I asked for some clarification and he gave it to me. The End.

Sorry you took the post the wrong way.....Get over it!

No matter "who you know" they still don't build SIs to your specifications. They build them in cycles, with different options coming on different colors, within those cycles. That's why, when you go to a dealership and they look in the Honda registry thing, they see if there is an unclaimed car with your desired options on the way to your dealership, or one near by. If there is, your name goes on that car, and it's reserved for you.

If there isn't (and this is what happened to the OP), they tell you the next time one with your desired options will be built (and shipped) and they put your name on that one.

While they may build vehicles in cycles, they also ship vehicles in cycles. The dealsership clearly told him that in 4 weeks they will be receiving a shipment, and on that shipment there will be a ASM FA5. As for the "specifications", that will most likely be dealership-installed luxuries.

The dealership around me will have very few SIs on lot. Usually 1 in the showroom, and a used one out front. Rarely will they have any new ones on the lot. Mine was purchased through a dealership about 300 miles away.

Geez, if I knew there would be this much fuss I'd have kept this to myself. Supposedly they order the 09 SI w/ Navi from their factory in Canada. They deliver it to the dealership I requested, and add on the parts I ordered (front/rear/side spoilers etc.). I don't know what is so weird about that. I just skipped the middle man.

That's funny. Then why are you disagreeing with me in the "honda year end clearance event" thread?

Because that's not what you said in your original post. You tried to sound cool, saying you "know people". You said "...they said it will take about 4 weeks to build it to my specs...". Honda doesn't build the Si to spec.

Why are you having the dealership install the HFP kit if you are buying a mad tyte JDM conversion yo?

Where did I disagree with you? Nowhere did I say, "2008fijibluesi, you are wrong"

I ordered my car directly from the people who make the purchases for the dealers at Honda's main facility in Torrance, CA. This is where they choose how many of each type they want to order from the factory. Those with navi, in blue, etc. They printed me out a list of options with associate prices. I chose my color and checked off what I wanted and they ordered it. After delivery to the dealer of my choosing they will install the extras that the factory does not such as the front, side, and rear spoilers. Parts are stored in the same facility and sent to the dealerships. They told me it will take four weeks due to the Holiday Season. I plan on keeping the rear and side spoilers, and replacing the front and keeping it as extra when I get my JDM conversion. So, I explained myself in greater detail just to appease the j/off in you. Happy "yo"?

Does it really matter the process...he "ordered" his car and its going to take 4 wks.

Just Congratulate the guy and move on to the mods he is planning.

Why is everybody making a big deal out of this nonsense? It's just another guy buying another civic Si sedan and probably the 20th person on here i've seen that wants to do a JDM look-alike conversion.

Nothing special....get over it guys!

Relax...it's nothing special. He's just getting options that are already available to any Si buyer. Only difference is that he saves a little more money because of a relative working for Honda.
