Default gauge needle lights dont work

not to long ago I bought an em1 shell. (theft recovery) well since then I have put in some work into it. my problem now is I bought a b16a2 swap with the si cluster. I noticed the check engine light bulb was taken out, and it doesnt light up even. theres also light coming out thru the corners, and my gas and heat needles dont light up. ive searched bout the needles but nothing came up. one last question. my temp gauge doesnt work. could the cluster being bad cause that or is a sensor in the engine bay?

Are you sure the bulbs are good in that spot?

ILL RE CHECK. MY QUESTION IS WHY THE GAUGE READINGS WOULD LIGHT UP BUT NOT THE NEEDLES? ALSO WOULD MY TEMP GAUGE NOT WORKING CAUSE MY CAR TO RUN RICH? I READ THAT IF MY ENGINE READS COLD ALL THE TIME THE ECU WILL FEED IT MORE FUEL.

there are more than one bulb. Several can be dead.

negative...... if the sensor INPUT to the ecu is outta threshold it could run rich.... if your guage is off that has to do with the engine temp. sending unit... u may be confusing it with the ect or engine coolant temp. sensor... which is for the fuel injection...

and as previously posted check ALL bulbs... you def have at least two out that i can see....

Pretty sure there is a temp sending unit which sends a temp reading to the gauge alone and has nothing to do with engine operation, just sends a reading to the gauge. It is possible that you have a simple wiring problem with the temp gauge and your cars running right. Definately worth checking though.

You should just replace all the globes with new ones on the back of your cluster. You prob have missed one somewhere, are using crap globes... Possibly the red covering on the globes is blacking out parts of the globe but not others, hence showing in some parts but not others. Maybe a couple are blown.

A real quick thing could be to try move the working globes to different positions on the back of the cluster and you will then confirm that it is infact a few bad globes.

well my problem is the bulbs. they are some cheap coated bulbs. ill be making a trip to autozone later. i think my car is running rich. im getting like 24 mpg. so would a faulty ect sensor not make temp gauge work too. its stuck in that position with car on or off. it wont move.
